I'm not sure why Goodreads only has only issue 2 of Animal Man in its database because this is one amazing series; the best the new DCU has to offer. I'm going to include my review of issue one as well. The first issue of Animal Man introduces Buddy Baker - a superhero who is quite different from the other heroes of the DCU in that he has a family and feels misplaced in the superhero community. Wasn't sure that I would like it, but I wanted a new superhero story. So when I saw that dc did the new 52's I decided to give him a shot. Only read five of the comics so far but I plan on finishing the series and find myself wanting more after each page

Is this issue 2 or volume 2? Anyway, there is some real horror here, similar to Alan Moore's Swamp Thing from the 80s.

This was better than Lemire's first book, because the first was more origin stuff, back story, exposition, and this gets us into some more action.
