Hecho En Téjas: An Anthology of Texas Mexican Literature is the premiere collection of work spanning several decades. Kudos to editor, Dagoberto Gilb, for amassing such a wonderful collection of artifacts, stories, and essays from the borderlands and beyond. If you live in TX, went to southwest tx state univ, love poetic things, dig history, groove on borderland culture, invest in this book. When I was at Southwest TX State, I thought Dagoberto Gilb was a bit of a pompous ass--and I suppose I was right, but goddamn, he put together a good one here. Texas writers from the 1900's to current feminista freaks and tortured poet songwriters. There's joy squeezing and dripping outa this book like a really good tamale (vegetarian for me, but whatever).
A necessary book to teach in high schools throughout Texas.
