This book describes a mid-90s community organizing effort in a Rust Belt town. I particularly enjoyed the section on how the women of the town, reading the Bible through their own experience, create their own theology of liberation which energizes them to fight for their community. If this book has one weakness, it's that the town's success seems to have largely depended on one charismatic leader, coauthor Maxine Waller.
