I don't think I'll be able to marry, attend a wedding, or listen to Taylor Swift's
'Speak Now', ever again without thinking of this book.
This book was fairly fantastic, like all by Meg,
what I loooooooove the most about her books is that the characters are always SO real,
like they could easily be you, or someone you know,
and this book's heroine, Lizzie, is pretty much every woman I've known,
Yeah, you might not admitt it, but we all have a Lizzie Nichols inside,

I loved the first Queen of Babble book...but ultimately, there is no where for chick lit to go but marriage and the rigors of planning a wedding. Having read it all before, I was a little frustrated and bored with Lizzie Nichols, the aforementioned Queen of Babble, a blabber-mouth and vintage fashion fiend.

The first 1/2 of this one just drug on and on for me. Then the second 1/2 (mostly from when she got what would be her big break in her chosen field), it was pretty good. But I don't buy the Chaz thing. I think that was all "I'm sad, drunk, at a wedding on new year's and now I'm horney." I didn't see any kind of connection between the two of them prior to that. Then to have Luke jump from no future to marry me, I don't buy it. I could see some kind of promise ring maybe, I don't know. But that wa...more

ceritanya sangat amat ketebak memang. as usual lah...seperti buku-nya Meg Cabot lainnya, tapi cukup menyenangkanloh membaca buku-buku fairy tale kek gini.

Listened to on BOCD. Second in a trilogy; I didn't read the first. The only Meg Cabot I have read is the Allie Finkle series (for YA), which I find hilarious, but this book was just meh. It ends on a cliffhanger, but I think I'll just track down a synopsis online rather than read the next book.
The idea is that the main character, Lizzie, gets in trouble because she can't keep her mouth shut, but I didn't really see that as a problem for her more so than it is for anyone else. Anytime another cha...more

Also was soll dieses fast 400 Seiten Buch?

This is a fun return to the Lizzie Nichols universe Cabot first introduced us to in 'Queen of Babble'. Lizzie is now in New York City, moving to go after her dream of working in the vintage fashion industry. Sadly, the only job she can get in the field is a non-paying internship in a shop that refurbishes wedding gowns, her dream job. To supplement that income, she works as a lowly receptionist at a prestigious law firm. On top of that, her seemingly perfect boyfriend, Luke, has asked her to mov...more
Although most people say this book isn't as good as the first one, I have to disagree. I think QOB: In the Big City is just as good, better even, than the first one.
Lizzie, now in New York, has decided to move in with Luke. She has to attend countless interviews before finding a job, but because this is Lizzie and she just can't keep her gob shut, she says she'll do the job for free. Que the funny romance.

I really loved this book! I'm getting into reading loads of chick-lit, very lately. I've recently reread 'Bergdorf Blondes', by Plum Sykes and then I read another of her books, 'Debutante Divorcee'. Followed up with 'Chasing Harry Winston' by Lauren Weisberger. (I'm hardly getting any sleep at night, reading all these books!) But I loved Meg Cabot's character, Lizzie, the most so far. The other books have their intrigue but in a way they are sort of like just romance novels to me, of which I hav...more
Queen of Babble in the Big City is book two of Meg Cabot's Queen of Babble. This review assumes that you have read the first book, Queen of Babble, and may have spoilers for it if you haven't.

Luke is also in New York City pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor. The two of them move into Luke's mother's apartment together while she is living in France with Luke's fa...more

The sequel to Queen of Babble, which I read a few weeks ago. I think this book is brand new because the date stamped in it said like 17 July 2007! I love that since this isn't like a super indemand author here, they don't even put it on the new book shelve or make you pay for it, like some of the new stuff here. And at first I thought they made a mistake because I couldn't use the autocheck, but nope! All fine.

Lizzie Nichols di New York!

A massive improvement on it’s prequel. Just when you begin to doubt the chick-lit prowess of the mighty Cabot, she thwacks you in your snarky face with ‘Queen of Babble in the Big City’ .
Scatterbrained, babble-prone Lizzie Nichols is back. She’s living with her boyfriend - Luke in a plush 5th Avenue Flat in the city of her dreams, New York. The expert on vintage clothes is bursting with enthusiasm and has that special-sheen which only a happily-ever-after scenario brings.

this was a perfectly fun, frothy read that i zipped through in maybe four hours, but it was not without its issues. the plot in a nutshell: lizzie is back in new york city after spending the summer in the south of france, where she met her dream boyfriend, luke. she is temporarily living with luke in his mother's fifth avenue shopping apartment, but she's looking for a place with her best friend, shari, & a job doing garment restoration. then luke suggests that she just stay put & move i...more
I think I'm officially over Meg Cabot. I enjoyed a couple of books in one of her series, but now that I've read 4 books by her, I've found that they're all based on the same story, and they always have the same ending. By the time I got to this book I was able to predict the ending and storyline based on the other books I've read, and they're just not as much fun anymore.

Second book in the Queen of Babble series. This time Lizzie is in New York City with her new boyfriend Luke and best friends Shari & Chaz. Lizzie spends the first part of the book job hunting, figuring out where she's going to live, and trying to figure out how she can make her dream of being a wedding gown restoration specialist come true. After all that preliminary stuff, the book gets much more interesting in the second half!

I do like chick-lit, it is always funny, sweet and totally silly, and a girl needs silly now and again.
This is the second book about Lizzie Nichols, in the last book she found her prince charming, and he is really a prince too, if one of many French ones. They are living together on 5th Avenue until she can find something with her friend Shari. She also wants to find a job working with what she loves, wedding dresses. Things do not go as she expected and she ends up living with Luke, working as...more
Fun read! This is my first read by this author, although it is the second book in this series. The main character, Lizzie Nichols must have been more of a gossip in the first book but has gotten much better.
Through events that must happen in the first book, Lizzie is now an aspiring wedding dress shop alternator (she likes to take really old wedding dresses and update them, she also find fun vintage clothing for herself), but cannot find a paying job now that she has just moved to the Big City,...more

Not as good as Queen of Babble (#1), but still very enjoyable. Should be at least 3.5 stars.
Yeahs ::
* Same fun writing. Although, I didn't find myself laughing as much as I did with the first book in this series.
* All these vintage clothing and wedding dress refurbishing talk has me missing my sewing machine. This series has me tailoring my shirts that just sit in my closet because they fit funny.
* Shari's story twist. Saw this coming, but it was still a little shocker.

Druh díl o smolařce se tentokrát odehrává v New Yorku.

Oh Lizzie. Lizzie, Lizzie, Lizzie. What will you and your big mouth get into next??
Queen of Babble in the Big City is the second book of the series. This time we find Lizzie back in the States after her summer in France (where she met Luke). Only thing is, well, Lizzie doesn't have a job or a place to live in the city just yet. She and her best friend Shari are looking for one though... at least that is, until Luke asks Lizzie to move in with him.
Eventually, Lizzie lands not one, but two jobs (...more

The first "Queen of Babble" book had me laughing out loud on every page. So picking up the second book was a no-brainer...and suddenly I am completely hooked to this 3-book series. While I thought that this book had less humor than the first, it still was adorably written. Reading Lizzie's thought process always brings the phrase "word vomit" to mind, in that once she starts talking/thinking...there is no stopping her. She thinks/says anything and everything, mindful that she may get in trouble...more
I actually liked this book better than the first book (which came across as a little too Cinderella-ish, even for my taste!). In this book, Lizzie Nichols moves to NYC to work on her dream of opening a shop that refurbishes clothes and to be close to her fabulously rich boyfriend, Luke. Of course, from that point, nothing works out as planned. Lizzie finally takes on a part-time job working for a law firm to pay the bills while she works part time *for free* at a wedding dress shop to learn more...more
This book was okay, but it took me about 3/4 of the way to really get into it. AND there will be a third book about Lizzie, becuase that is just the way it ended. Not the best book by Meg Cabot. I wish she'd find a new character to write about. I'd have much rather read a book about two of the minor characters in this book!
It was an okay book, though, as are all by this author.

After having found her perfect boyfriend, Lizzie is happy to come to New York to establish her career. She happily agrees when Luke asks her to move in with her. She finds a job in Chez Henri, which is a vintage wedding gown refurbishing establishment. Everything goes well, and Lizzie gets these wild wedding fantasies. She expects Luke to propose her, but everything goes wrong when she gets a sewing machine instead. They break up. Chaz, Luke's best friend helps Lizzie after the break up and thin...more
