Wow, okay so in Angela Knight’s weird, out there ‘Mageverse’ world King Arthur is a vampire, Camelot’s Merlin is an alien, and everyone is searching for the black grail. There’s a fairy king, some witches, Guinevere (also a vampire) shows up and she‘s horny, we visit the round table, Avalon, and watch an entire police department get taken over by magic while officer Faith Weston gets it on with her K-9 partner Rambo who also happens to be a werewolf-shifter posing as a German shepherd. All this...more
Fifth in the Mageverse erotic paranormal-romance series revolving around the protectors of our world: the vampiric knights of the Round Table led by King Arthur. Oh, wait, he doesn't like to be called "King"… This particular story is of the secret weapon, the Dire Wolves, left by Merlin and Nimue to act as a brake on the knights if they should get out of hand.
The Story
The murder of a childhood friend causes Jim London to act. There's something odd going on in the Clarkston Police Department and...more

When I first started this book I didn't realize it was #5 in on ongoing series. Back before I had children and too many dogs, I used to keep up with these things but lately I'm pretty much clueless and have been picking up too many books mid series and it drives me nuts. My mind is spent, used up and full, damn it. I no longer want to strain the brain to figure out who all of these people are and attempt to piece together the bits of back story into some coherent thing. Why aren't there any stan...more
This was a pretty good book, however being my second or third time reading it there were a few things I noticed that really bothered me. It's the story of a werewolf, Jim London, and human, Faith Weston. They meet under dangerous circumstances (as usual for this series) and Faith soon learns all about the Mageverse. Then during a life-threatening scene they decide to spirit-link. This is exactly like the soul-meld between the other types of Mageverse characters, who also don't decide it needs to...more

Okay.
So I knew from checking out Angela Knight's website that her books were a little graphic in the sexual department. I'm 16, and that's not what I look for in a book. I'm more interested in PLOT. This is the first book I read by Knight, so I was a little confused at first, but it was really easy to catch up.
The plot was really interesting. I love all this Medieval-Arthur-And-The-Round-Table-Stuff, and on top of it all, the romance was really realistic. (Well, as realistic as you can get in a...more

Leave it to me to start in the middle of a series, but I'm loving this book. Jim is a sexy werewolf, absolutely to die for. Faith is a strong, independent woman that is his perfect match, though she doesn't know it. She first meets Jim when he goes undercover posing as her K9 police dog to expose a cover up of the murder of his best friend. What they unravel is a vampire conspiracy raging through out the police department while their own feelings run rampant under the Blood Moon. Sizzling excite...more
I think if I'd read this ten years ago, I might have liked it more, but now that I've read more paranormal romances, my tastes have changed a little. This book has a lot of sex and a lot of peril. Sometimes, a lot of sex when there's still a lot of peril. And I'm wondering how the protagonists are not too distracted by the apocalyptic immensity of the peril to enjoy the sex. But they're not distracted, and the sex is amazing for them. Woohoo. The baddies are cartoonish, the good guys are somewha...more
Just a quick note, this is the second book I this series I have read, and I just can't get into the concept. Arthur as a vampire. Gueneviere as a witch and Morgan Le Fay as a compatriot and friend. I am usually receptive to re-branding and re-tellingly of old myths (think Sands, Frost, Hamilton, Butler, Chance, Devlin, Ford etc), but this one went too far for me and I simply do not like the universe created or the roles that the characters play.
Started a bit slow, but then it picked up and turned into a pretty good read. Most of the Mageverse books are entertaining, with the exception of Master of the Night which was a bit weak. I loved the hero in this one -- Jim London, alpha werewolf, and brother to Diana, the new queen of the Fae. I like quite a few of her heros--Jim, Gawain, Llyr, Kel. And of course King Arthur is quite the hottie. :)
Definitely not the best one in this series. While there is a storyline, the scenes themselves are weak. Sometimes the author takes the time to flush out a scene well, while other times it seems incredibly rushed and shallow. This is the 2nd time I've read this entire mageverse series, and it will be the 2nd time I have been unable to finish this particular book.
I really enjoyed this story. A bit on the short side, it still had a lot going on to move the main plot of the series along. I really liked the H&H. They were made for each other. I enjoyed the steamy romance between the two of them and the dialogue. Characters from the prior stories also popped up.

I really like this series. Angela Knight writes with a 'magic' touch. Descriptions of different worlds makes it all sound real, the bad guys menacing enough to give you the shivers, and the main characters are wonderfully written. They don't feel 'fake' in any way, shape or form (no pun intended). The wars (arguments) with each other, the wars within themselves, brings this book to life like no other. You feel what the characters feel, about themselves and towards each other. The words used to d...more

I thought the beginning was very funny, with Jim going undercover as a German shepherd. Lots of situational comedy moments there. Although it probably wasn't intended to be funny. Then King Arthur and his 12 Knights of the Round Table appeared and I thought "Oh no, good plotline ruined with extreme silliness!" But it actually worked out ok. Very hot sex scenes, although they got a bit repetitive. Entertaining, suspenseful, I would read more by the author.
