Bishop T.D. Jakes provides comforting hope and practical ways for all people, including Christians, to get up after they have fallen. Everyone falls from time to time; and the cause of the fall is not as important as what we do while we are down and how we get back up. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Learn some of these important life lessons: Why pride and selfishness will lead to destruction. How to be content. The temptation to be self-sufficient. Like the woman in the television commercial, we must put aside fear, pride, or embarrassment and call out for help. We must learn not only how to ask for help, but Whom to ask. After all, help is just a breath away.
Bishop T.D. Jakes is the author of the bestsellers God's Leading Lady; The Lady, Her Lover and Her Lord; Maximize the Moment; The Great Investment; His Lady; Woman, Thou art Loosed (the film of which won the Best Film Award at the Santa Barbara Film Festival) and He-Motions. His daily morning show The Potter's Touch and weekly broadcast The Potter's House air on Trinity Broadcasting Network and Black Entertainment Television, as well as in Europe and South America. Bishop Jakes is the founder and pastor of The Potter's House, one of the fastest-growing churches in the nation, where he leads an interracial congregation of more than 28,000 members. He lives in Dallas with his wife and five children.
It was a great reminder of some of the lessons that we all forget. It was full of scripture and felt a lot like a bible study. Those sorts of books are always harder for me to read, but I also appreciate that all of he content for the book is inspired by the Bible. I say book, but it's more of a pamphlet than a book. T.D. Jakes is a preacher and it's very clear in his writing that he's writing a sermon. Great encouragement and an easy read, but overall it would probably have been more enjoyable to hear him preach the message than it was to read it.
"You may have heard the story about the misbehaving little boy whose mother told him to sit in the corner chair. "I may be sitting on the outside," he said, "but I'm standing on the inside." That's the way many adults act when they rebel against God." -T.D. Jakes
The book was right on time and beautifully written. I wasn't aware the Bishop was blessed with writing directly to the reader. The Father has such mercy. This was right on time and he sent the answer to my prayers by mail. I will look for more books by Mr. Jakes.
This is a excellent book to help you recognize the power of God to restore you when you are in a fallen state. It will restore your faith in His ability to renew and mend those broken places in you.
