Hugely interesting book from an amazingly interesting man. Desmond Donnelly was a centre-left, pro-American, Euro-federalist, anti-communist Labour MP who took the huge decision in 1968 of resigning the Labour whip to protest the Wilson government's dual abandonment of sound economic policies to appease the hard-left and of Britain's standing in the world by withdrawing 'East of Suez'.
