Boy did I love this one. I'm really enjoying this ACRO (Agency for Rare Covert Operatives) series by Sydney Croft-- this one was so good it even brought tears to my eyes.
Kira Donovan's an animal whisperer, or animal psychic. She can talk to and communicate with animals in a way that no human can. In fact, she communicates better with animals than she does with humans. It's a special gift, but one that comes with a host of complications. The chief complication is the mating heat More...

Holy cow, I liked "Unleashing the Storm", the second book of the ACRO/Storm series by Sydney Croft even better than the first! See my review of "Riding the Storm" (book one, Mar09 review) for the back story, but if you like action, wounded heroes, paranormal woo woo, and smoking sex...you really need to try this series.

Have you ever started a book mid-afternoon, then looked up and it be well past your bedtime that night? That is exactly what happened to me while reading Unleashing the Storm by Sydney Croft. It was so easy to get intrigued by the storyline and caught up in the world of ACRO, I literally lost track of time! It is filled with clever characters, lots of hot sex and an interesting plotline that kept me obsessed with finishing it in one setting. Believe me, any loss of sleep or negl More...

This was the second book in the ACRO series and it continued the two secondary stories that began in "Riding the Storm" (ACRO, #1), but had a new main story that had a lot of potential. Ender (Tom Knight) was first introduced as a minor character at the end of "Riding the Storm" and was a real BAD ASS, unliked by most. Throughout most of this book, I didn't like him, either!
The very end was his only likable moment and it was not enough for me. Kira, was a nic More...

5+ stars – Paranormal Romance/Erotica
WOW! As much as I liked the first book Riding the Storm, the second book in the ACRO series, Unleashing the Storm, is even better…I LOVED it! The “erotica meets X-Men” series centers around ACRO (Agency for Rare Covert Operatives) heroes/heroines with paranormal abilities/powers battling it out with bad guys (and having lots of hot sex in the process).
Julie, Auntee, and Daisiemae all have great reviews on this, so check them out. More...

This book was great! Really sexy and great characters. The whole mating heat thing was kind of strange, but I got into it by the end of the book. However, it was a helluva lot like this one...

I like this series, but I am not in love with it. Yes, the stories are hot and I really enjoy the characters and the plot--but what I have an issue with is the same as with most PNR books...they fall madly in love way too quickly. I know it is a series about people with super human strength/powers, so, we are not really dealing with a story line based in our reality, but the falling in love time line is one element I would like to alter because it changes the feel of the book for me.

This was such a great read. Better than the first one on many levels.
For starters, I liked the hero better. Ender is huge and sexy and runs like the wind... Not a nice guy but bad guys we love!
Kira was kinda "meh" for me, though. I didn't identify with her and, to be honest, I found her a bit irritating.
Then there were the sex scenes. Scorchingly hot. The things you can do with a pair of handcuffs...
The subplot was so captivating, at times I found my More...

I'm probably not being fair to this one. I started reading it when I got sick and it was hard for me to get into. I've started next book Seduced By The Storm and like it alot more. Go figure?!

I almost didn't. In fact, I'd deleted the free preview I'd downloaded to my Kindle after months of wavering back and forth as to whether I was going to continue the ACRO series by Sydney Croft (writing duo Larissa Ione and Stephanie Tyler). As much as I thoroughly enjoy Larissa Ione's Demonica Series (Pleasure Unbound, Desire Unchained, Passion Unleashed, Ecstasy Unveiled, Sin Undone), to say I was disappointed in Riding the Storm would be an understatement. I wasn’t sure what to expect in the second ARCO book-the first was so exciting, and I always worry about sophomore books. Thankfully, Unleashing the Storm did not disappoint!
We briefly met Tommy “Ender” Knight in the first ARCO book, Riding the Storm. He was set up as the grumpy loaner, ex-military dude. And he remains that way into and throughout this book. He is attracted to Kira, may have some feelings for her as he gets to know her, but his personality does not take a 180-turn when he meets More...

Good read - but not quite as good for me as Riding the Storm. Several reasons apply: the hero was the poster boy for Jerks Anonymous [sure he had issues but ...:], and the heroine had to have sex every four hours or she'd die [sounds like a nonsurvival trait to me:] which chops up the flow of the story. It's hard to stage the Great Escape when you have to stop to have wild sex every four hours. That said, it was still a good read with lots of page-turning action of both types. Make it 4.5

I'm really enjoying this Sydney Croft series. There is always A LOT of sex, but the good thing there is that you can read it if you're in the mood, or you can skim it when you're not. What's important is the love that always develops between these special, normally scarred, people.
"Unleashing the Storm" is about Tom "Ender" Knight(who has possibly one friend in the world - everyone else thinks he's an a-hole), who is sent to convince Kira Donovan (a modern-day More...

I absolutely loved this book! IMO it was better than the first, with again a few different storylines going on at once (as there were in Riding the Storm), but in this book the storylines flowed better. My main problem with Riding the Storm was that the secondary storylines were not very "secondary." I thought everyone was fighting for control of the book, but in Unleashing the Storm the secondary storylines bowed-down to the main characters, while being able to still have their own vo

OMG! I loved it. I couldn't put it down once I got to the good part. This one was so much better than the first installment in the series. I'm not giving the whole 5 stars-rating only because the beginning was a bit lame (Only sex and nothing really going on).

Book 2 in the ACRO series follows Kira, a woman who can speak to and understand animals, and Ender, the agent with extreme speed and heightened sense ability. He's the tough guy on a mission to recruit her and even though she's going through her yearly heat and needs sex from him once they meet, neither of them expect the intense connection that forms between them. Theirs is a lovely story of finding your mate under the most unlikely of circumstances. We also get more development between star-cr

Unleashing the Storm is the second in the ACRO series and I'm pleased to say that it is just as erotic and as good as the first.
We've already me the hero of the piece; Tom 'Ender' Knight. He was one of the ACRO agents sent to assist Haley in the first novel. All we knew of him then was that he's a sniper. As it turns out, he is also a very good albeit reluctant 'convincer', someone who is sent out to get people with special abilities to join ACRO by any means necessary. Or, if they won More...

Once again, Larissa Ione and Stephanie Tyler have made a fine piece of paranormal romantica.
As with the first book, this installment follows numerous plot threads/ character perspectives. I happen to like the shifts between situations. The potential drawback, however, is that all elements may not be equally enjoyable.
I found this to be the case for a chunk of the "main" storyline featuring Tom "Ender" K More...

I've read a few of the reviews for this book and was afraid I wouldn't like it but I thought this was almost as good as the first. That being said, I never thought I'd feel so sorry for the guy getting to have sex all the time especially in a book where the author is trying to make the sex hot. Kira is some kind of animal whisperer that goes into heat one a year and MUST have sex every 4 hours for about six weeks or she'll die. Usually she lines up a few guys to help her out but this time all

So I will give this one a review but won’t give it a star rating, the reason being that after trying twice to get into the main plot of this book – the romance between Ender and Kira I found myself uninterested and a little put off. So, knowing that I still had the third in the series at home on loan from the library and knowing that Unleashing the Storm was due back in a few days time, I decided to skip through the scenes with Ender and Kira and devote my reading time to Creed and Annika as wel

Kira Donovan is an animal whisperer and not only goes into heat but also has survived Parvo. "Ender" Knight has been sent to either recruit her for ACRO or terminate her. He exceeds his job description by "servicing" her needs every 4 hours but becomes more entangled with her than he would ever have imagined. Devlin discovers that he may be more of a threat to the organization that he heads than he ever would have thought and he will have to accept help from the person he

This was one of those books I found impossible to put down. I did'nt care if my eyes were burning, that my vision had started to blur or that it was after 2am. I just had to finish this story. I loved book 1, "Riding the Storm" of this series but I have to say, this one blew it away. In the first installment, while the story premise was interesting, the book was more of an erotic read than anything else. Book 2 is just as hot and steamy, if not more so. The difference in book 2 is the

Tommy "Ender" Knight was considered an asshole to a whole lot of people. He was the ultimate weapon. Until he met Kira.
Really connected with Ender, the actions in the past that transformed him into the closed-off man. How little by little being with Kira started to chip away from that.
I was slow getting into the book, but once I got to the half way mark, they just started going quickly until the end hit me! I really did not see what happened happen but it More...

This was another good paranormal erotica with lots of sex and action. In this story we get to meet Ender's (Tom Knight) future mate (Kira). Kira is an animal whisperer and she's on the run from the government and other unknown agencies trying to gain control of her power. While in her spring heat, Kira can't help who she has sex with as long as she gets it. Luckily for her Ender has become her mate this season and will go on to help save her life (whether she likes it or not). I'm really lo

I thought the first book of this series was hot, but this one topped it. In this book, you learn even more about the ACRO organization and really start to fall in love with all the characters. I love how the author has inserted the side character romance of Annika and Creed. She seamlessly puts in other side stories too, so even though there is a new couple each book focuses on, you want to read the next book in the series to follow all the side stories that carry throughout the book. Great read

Loved this one. Any book that triggers an emotional reaction gets 5 stars from me. Even though the hero didn't share a lot, which usually bugs me, he shared enough through his actions that it was hard not to like him. She's an animal lover and a sweetheart. She has to have sex every 4 hours, and almost every encounter is described in detail. Gives you an idea of the steam factor:-) I also enjoyed the other two stories going on. They didn't interrupt the flow of the main story which is rare and

So much sex in here! But I already knew that from the first part so I wasn’t surprised. The ACRO-world is utterly sex-centered, and you always have more than one pairing going at it. But, there’s no ménage in here, and the main couple (Kira and Tom) are monogamous during this book, so I wasn’t bothered. M/M-scenes are not a problem for me (and can be pretty hot ) as long as the hero is not involved, he wasn’t here, so that was fine with me. In fact, Dev and Oz are a great pair, and I hope they’

Just going over the things that really stood out for me: the plot was preposterous & contrived. The m/m felt gratuitous. The h/h didn't seem to know the rule that they can both be foolish just not at the same time.
