This novel is a very unevenly paced recounting of the early years of the legendary Sigmar, founder of the Empire. Characters are clearly good or evil and everyone seems to not be able to understand the value of joining together against a hostile world full of orcs and Chaos until Sigmar proposes the idea of an Empire of Man. The battle scenes are the main attraction and are hyperbolic and the plot is basically Sigmar accomplishing a series of tasks that observers praise him for.
