I had a very specific reason for reading this book: I wanted to see how this author, among others, fictionalizes Till's murder. So Richardson does just that, but he goes further to contextualize his death and its subsequent impact on the Civil Rights Movement. The latter seems to be the greater focus of the novel; I think he sacrifices narrative plot for history's events.
