Thirty years in, and I'm still a Duran Duran fan. So I just had to read this book when I saw it on the library shelf. It could have been worse, considering that most of the material is lifted from other articles. Some of the quotes I actually remember from magazines I read back in the day. It's very gossipy, and probably not altogether factual, but I still had fun reading it. Since this is an unauthorised biography, I will take some of it with a grain of salt. However, it jibes with much of what I have read about the band before, so I think it was probably fairly accurate.

Finished this again. Unloading it to my nearest buy back bookstore as soon as I can. Ugh. His language is awkward, he makes up words that do not exist (yes, I checked), and worse yet, it reads like a sour grapes treatise. I would not recommend this to anyone, even someone who is just starting to get into Duran (sorry, Patrick!). After hearing Hungry Like A Wolf in my teenage years, & still a Duran Duran fan to this day, this book is servicable in painting the picture of the 5 handsome & talented boys from Birmingham. I especially love the bits on Nick Rhodes my fave member & how he was always the creative, arty & playful one keeping the band going. It feels a bit rushed towards the end but no better place to learn abt those 80s pop excesses than this book. Of course u need to listen to their albums & ...more
