The quote above was how this book, Secrets of the Hollywood by Jen Calonita grabbed my attention, I' m pretty sure it pulled yours too. You will really gobble this one up. The narrator is Kaitlin Burke, one of the hottest teen celebrities in town who stars in an OC type prime time soap. Calonita sold me on the idea that Kaitlin life, though more glamorous, has some of the same problems any typical teenager has. Exhausted, Kaitlin is tired from all the expectations of her parents and her attempts to please them. So, she cooks up a plan to get the break she wants, a very interesting one too. Fans of Meg Cabot’s Princess Diaries or Ann Brashares’s Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants will totally love this one.

This fascinating book kept surprises around every corner and I never knew what was coming. Along with the problems that most teenagers faced, you will devour it in no time. Not everything is as great as Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, or Nicole Richie would like us to believe, but it sure is filled with excitement!

So, you think the life of a famous teen actress is a dream come true? Think again. For Kaitlin Burke, living that dream is great, but all she really wants is to try out life as a typical teen.

Kaitlin is one sneaky girl. She manages to fool an entire school when she enrolls as Rachel Rogers – a British transfer student. Seeing that she could pull this off, it was no wonder that she was a famous actress. She could win an Academy Award for the party scene!

Kaitlin Burke, the main protagonist, has to worry about a lot of things. First, there's her career. She's an actress, and constantly has to deal with a lot of publicity (busy sched, tabloid attacks, blog buzz concerning her, backstabbing costars, etc.). Secrets of My Hollywood Life is brimming with all that stuff that makes us bookworms drool: suspense (can Kaitlin pull it off?!), drama (it's about HOLLYWOOD. The title is about HOLLYWOOD. Of course it has drama!), love (not spoiling anything here!), and more. Furthermore, it is about finding your true self, and fulfilling your dreams. Again, I would really recommend this series to everyone out there, especially chick-lit lovers like me.

She meets new friends along the way, re-discovered who she was and modeled herself to be who she wanted to be. With her supportive-and sometimes over-bearing- family ,her agent, Seth and personal assistant, Nadine, by her side, Kaitlin achieves her goals and grows to be the mature woman she wanted to be. Along the way, she reveals the reality of Hollywood and what goes on behind closed doors. I recommend this book for anyone with a flair for fashion, Hollywood and drama. Teen girls 13-19 would love this book, it has a good mix of romance (Kaitlin & her boyfriend, Austin), frenemies (Kaitlin & Sky), misonception of situations (Kaitlin's relationship with Ava & Lauren) and good old Tinsletown drama.

I really like this book because it is a fun book to read, with some life lessons secretly hidden in between the lines. "'AAAAAHHHHHHH!' I scream and drop the phone. I step on it with my pointy heels ans tomp around in a circle screaming. 'They're driving me nuts!' I yell at the sky. 'I can't tale it anymore!' I scream again then stop and take a few deep breaths. I look down at my phone. The creen is cracked. Oops. Guess i won't e getting anymore calls on that tonight. For some reason, that actually makes me giggle" (P.91) In this quote Kaitlin just got off the phone with her mother- her mother was pushing her to do something she didn't want to do-and Kaitlin was over-whelmed. She let out her anger in the funniest way i have ever heard of, seems like a great stress reliever though. This quote made me understand the book a bit better because it actually let me into her world. I got to feel what she felt at that point in time and i have to say, i would've done alot more than stomping on my phone.

"I'm glad since i'm no closer to getting my license today than i was three months ago. Taking driving lessons is at the top of my to-do list- as soon as we get back from New York" Kaitlin is excited to finally move out on her own and go to NYU, like everyother graduating teen of her time. Here she shows that she is ready to take on the world...but first she has to learn how to drive. This quote helped me understand the book because it showed me that although she was worth millions, she was still a normal teen, she felt the same emotions we felt and anticipated for the same little things that we did. She was a taditional teen, with a whole lot of money.

I really enjoyed this book and if you ever read it, i hope you enjoy it too because it is a great read.(less)

Although the author Jen Calonita does name drop some celebrities such as vanessa hudgens ,ashley tisdale and more I really do enjoy it because the author Jen has interviewed many celebs such as vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron so I think she does has the right to name drop as many celebrities as she wants and because Kaitlyn is a teen celebrity she wants to make it seem real and relatible.

Overall I love this series I have the first three books and im getting the last three too .

I have to admit that going into this I as expecting a whole lot. Maybe an okay read, but nothing close to what I got. Since, surprisingly enough, Secrets of My Hollywood Life was a fabulous read and is officially one of my newest guilty pleasures.

I could totally see this book being made into a movie. It has a bit of a "Mean Girls" edge to it that is irresistible. Author Jen Calonita worked at Teen People before starting her life as an author. She obviously got the inside scoop while she was there. She seems to know all about Hollywood politics.

The story is a breeze to read, I finished the book in a days time no problem. Reading it so quickly was partly due to the fact that I was really sucked into the story!

This book was very good. It showed how every superstar sometimes need a break. Who'da thunk a book about a Hollywood starlet could be so boring?

I picked this book out because I'd heard all the accolades it was receiving, and normally I enjoy books of a similar vein. I was sorely disappointed with this one.

It didn't help that the plot's been done before, and BETTER (True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet, to name a personal favorite). I picked this book out because I'd heard all the accolades it was receiving, and normally I enjoy books of a similar vein. I was sorely disappointed with this one.

It didn't help that the plot's been done before, and BETTER (True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet, to name a personal favorite). Hollywood actress decides to go undercover and be a normal girl for once. Of course, she meets a guy there who ends up liking her for herself, thereby making the situation more complicated. Very predictable, yes. The main character herself is very boring. She makes a point to show how she's a goody-goody. Oh, I see what you did there. Of course we'll have to like her if we hear what a nice individual she is.

The whole plot, while stale enough by being nothing new, sinks to a new low by having absolutely no point. The main character wants a break so she decides to get this break by going to school for only about three weeks. Because that makes sense and is not a total waste of time, right.

Writing style is also terrible in this. Just because the character's sixteen doesn't mean this book is written for someone at a 10th grade reading level. The author made me roll my eyes often with her constant expressions: "frowning expression on her perfect oval face", several instances of the characters either running their hands through their hair or twirling their hair around their fingers, and six mentions of "turquoise eyes". Nobody has turquoise eyes; who're you trying to fool? Obviously the author thinks she's being clever, but it's just scoff-worthy. This book should be directed at fourth graders because they can be fooled by such horrible writing, however since it's about a teen, they stuck it in the teen section. Big mistake, though apparently people are still lapping it up, judging by the reviews. I don't know how people can enjoy something like this, but I shouldn't be surprised. The Twilight series just proves how wrong my logic is. Coincidentally, the last book I read that was as horrible as this one was Eclipse.

I will definitely not be reading another book by this author, and am now skeptical of Poppy books. They have one good series, Gossip Girl, but Poseur, The It Girl, The Clique, and Secrets of My Hollywood Life are duds.(less)

For a YA book I really liked it.. Most of the time ya annoys me because its tooooooo everything.. Too lame drama filled too over dramatic too insecure and too immature. I only like the ones with believable amounts of drama, believable interactions between characters, and having the main character not be a wishy washy drama queen with No backbone.. What I really loved and appreciated about this book was how it had no swearing, no inappropriate subject matter, and was completely fun to read! The plot was actually interesting enough that I read it one day because I wanted to know what would happen next. I also appreciated the dialogue and sense of honesty with the characters (particularly Kaitlan). Overall a very satisfying read.

I picked up this book for the reason that all that Hollywood glitz and glamour kind of thing in a book interests me in a way. I would never know how things would work in that industry but this book gave me an idea how it might be like to be a Hollywood star. It gave me juicy tidbits of a celebrity life but more than that, it was an adventure. I felt sad for it so I marked it as 2 stars.

This book was just a big pile of meh. Everything was so average, it was boring. The story follows Kaitlin who was wants to be a ~~real boy~~ regular teen! Cue Hannah Montana theme song. She enrolls in a school, gets exposed and ends up happily ever after anyway. Oh, and the bad guy(her mean co-star, Sky) gets her just desserts in the end. Yay!

Wow . . . I really liked this book. I admit this unashamedly.

Here's an example: I go to the library on Thursday. See a six-book series, so I pick up the first three. (HINT HINT) I finish the first one and start the second one. The next day I finish the second one and start the third one, and stop by the library to pick up the rest of the series. I finish the third one that night, then the fourth one the next day. Kaitlyn is not your average teenager. She's on a hit TV show and spends her summers shooting movies and doing interviews. She loves her life and is grateful...but part of her wonders what it would be like to be a normal girl.

Shelves: young-adult, hilarious, romantic

The first couple chapters were a bit dull, but the rest was really addicting. When Kaitlin started her double life, conflicts kept piling up, and when I had to stop reading, I coldn't stop wondering what was going to happen. Another plus, Austin is way appealing to the readers :)

A downside to this book was that it was really predictable. I hope the next book can keep up the intensity in conflicts!
