Depressing and about 200 pages too long. I'm slogging through because I'm just interested in enough in the characters to find out what happens; the author does create terrific characters, but she seems to have no idea what to do with them, so they just sit around and smoke, and drive around and drink, and whine and then feel guilty about whining. this book is CRAZY brilliant. extremely epic. one of the most brutal and beautiful tales of growing up female i've ever read. the connections between mothers and daughters made here is astounding. love, love, love this book.
This book doesn't sound like anything new or original and I didn't feel any sympathy for the characters. As one reviewer said it was 200 pages too long. I think the only character that I actually liked was Button.
