This is a very good book about one of the first American photographers, Mathew Brady, who was renowned for his work during the civil war. I am a high school librarian but many times order nonfiction that is not as difficult and still has the subject content. I've seen much of Brady's work and am fascinated how he made the war up close and personal altho there was no media at the time.
