I tried a similar eating plan on my own a few months ago (no sugar, low carb) and was surprised at the immediate resulting loss of a few pounds. Even without much exercise. Goes to show it really does matter what you eat! I noticed a more even energy level and felt great. The book gives a pretty practical approach (but too extreme, I think, if you are feeding your family too) to changing eating habits to cut out the empty calories that come from all the sugar and carbs we consume.
