Boys will be able to identify with 11 year old Nathaniel Phillips, the main character of this book, who travels with the British army to the Battle of Saratoga during the American Revolution. While it is an interesting story, full of historical details, the book does not do a good job at providing an overview of the war and the role of the Battle of Saratoga played in it. Even as an adult familiar with the Battle of Saratoga, I felt a little lost trying to understand what the book was ...more
