I’ve been dealing with a bit of bad luck in reading books that I truly like, so I thought I’d find something I like with my first Fern Michaels book. (This is at least her 11th book as there are ten other books mentioned as written by her in the book.) I know she’s a popular author and I’m expecting something along the lines of Danielle Steel (whose books I like when I was reading them years ago) and Nora Roberts (whose books I’ve been reading quite a bit lately and always enjoy.) I’m not expect...more
Set in Baton Rouge, this tale revolves around two families, the Lanes and the Gunns. Close friends and neighbors for years, their shared lives are remarkably happy until Myrna Gunn dies and Marcus remarries. Bella, his new wife, can only be described as an evil stepmother, and the two families divide. But Darby Lane and Russ Gunn remain the best of friends. Russ even makes Darby the executrix of his will after they graduate from college. Ten years later Russ dies, and Darby isn't able to stop Ru...more

Loved this book. I could actually seeing this made into a movie. The 3 elderly sisters reminded me of the Baldwin sisters in Walton's Mountain plus one more. Their Southern Charm was interesting and the book kept me reading.
Before reading this book, I had never heard of Fern Michaels. That's probably because I tend to avoid chick lit and books with legs on the cover. I must admit 'Hey, Good Looking' wasn't as cheesy as I expected and I liked it. I must also admit that liking it sort of scares me because I don't want to start dotting my i's with hearts and watching movies about angels that fall to earth.

3.5 stars. The quirky storyline kept me reading and interested enough for a fluffy, lighthearted read, but wow I am not a fan of Michaels' writing style. I find the conversations between all of the characters (not just a few who she's trying to position as flighty or nervous) are unrealistic and incongruous with the way someone actually speaks. Each character's voice would jump from talking about the weather to business to the neighbor to the dog, and then back to the weather without giving the ...more

I enjoyed reading this book. My chief complaints: one major plotline was left unfinished, at least in my mind; the ending was kind of abrupt, and typos!! It just drives me crazy when a published work that has been edited (presumably) has homonym confusion, missing quotation marks, sentence fragments... Sheesh! The story was pretty good and easy to read, though, and I did want to find out what happened, so overall I gave it 3 stars.
Picked this book up at the local library sale. After sitting on my shelf for awhile I finally got around to read it. Well written quick read, with just the right mix of humor, love, reality & mystery. A little southern hospitality mixed in with some back stabbing life lessons plus some good laughs.
A must read. Heart-warming story.Darby & Russ, lifelong friends til one's life ends too short. She makes peace with his wishes. Lovable characters; 3 Aunts that raised them, helps and reunites estranged father. Evil stepmother gets what's coming to her. Long last family returns.Makes you cry and makes you laugh out loud! One of the best books ever!
Not a huge fan of Fern Michaels writing styling as it can be a little dry in places, but this book surprised me. It was a pretty good read. However, reading about grown women named Ducky, Diddy, and Dodo was a little much. I really wished she called them their real names instead of those lame nicknames.
2 and a 1/2 stars. I finally read a Fern Michaels book! I have had this book on my shelf for years (sent to me from my sweet aunt) and every time it would come across my desk at the library I would think, "I need to read that book!"
It was a cute enough book with likeable characters.

I have no idea what the title has to do with this book. I guess I missed it. But I think it's supposed to be a love story. More then that, it's about 3 aunts who are hysterical. Didn't care for the very end, but the rest was a hoot.
Great book. Mystery and romance. All about friendship, trust, and family. Of course a little sad too. An all around drama! Suspensefull read it in a couple days could not put it down!
This was a good romance with a little bit of mystery in it. I would recommend it for those who need a quick 'people'-oriented story. It was an easy but satisfying read.
After reading a heavy book, or a heavy subject matter, I like a light book. That's what this one is. Some intrigue, but a light, easy, fun read.
I listened to an abridged audio version of this story and the editing wasn't the best. I feel that I missed a few scenes.
It was ok. Seemed to have "unfinished" business.... not one of her better works. Glad I borrowed it from the Lib. and not something I bought.
2.5 stars. Not a bad book, just not very good...characters, premise, love story, etc.
I loved the setting in Louisiana. Very cute!
Good book!!!!!!!! Loved it from the first page.
