Shelves: crime, new-orleans
Set in post-WWII New Orleans, this hard-boiled adventure remains true to the genre, the City and the time. Interestingly, the bulk of the story is told from the female protagonist's POV, a stripper in a lower-class club in the French Quarter. She has ambition and brains, and a plan for her future, but she didn't count on developing feelings for the bar-back.

Organized crime, and un-organized crime, set the plot in motion, and there are dire reactions for the protagonists in the resolution.
