This book is a mixed bag of essays. I would rate it much more highly if it were not for one essay in particular.

Scott Hartwig's outstanding tactical analysis of Caldwell's division, and A. Wilson Green's even handed treatment of 12th Corps leadership stand out as the stars of the books. The other essays are decent but do not add much new to the discussion of the second day.

Robert K. Krick's essay on James Longstreet's leadership on the other hand, brings down this book's credibility. It reads li
