I only read Billard um halbzehn out of the three, just for your information. I read this book for school, for German and man, it was a struggle at the beginning. I found it very hard to get into the book, German isn't my first language and just the words an sich were hard to understand. The book follows a lot of characters, whos stories do kind of come together at the end, but the consequence of this, was for me, that I found it difficult to know who I was reading about, in the beginning.

I actually only read Ansichten eines Clowns. That was amazing. Don't know about the other stories in this collection, but I couldn't find an entry for Ansichten alone.
Read just Ansichten eines Clowns.

Compelling, thought-provoking, sad. The transparency, quirkiness, sentimentality, and reflection--although at times upsetting--make the novel realistic and one with which a person can identify, in one way or another.

Can't say that I personally agree with his views, but Boell has crafted an excellent work nonetheless. (I'm even tempted to push my rating to 4.5...)
