The experiences of teaching in an unwed mothers' maternity home is the central focus of this novel. It is told in first person by a young school teacher who is, initially, so caught up in the games of the teaching establishment that she cannot put aside her paragraphing and essay writing lessons t help the girls find relevance and order in their despair and chaos. Shelves: fiction
I found this, randomly, on the shelves of the library in my high school and read it several times. I haven't read it since high school so I don't know how it's held up, but I really want a copy.

Clare "Blossom" Elfman was an American novelist and senior literary editor of Buzzine. She was the mother of director and publisher Richard Elfman and musician and composer Danny Elfman, Her novel The Girls of Huntington House was produced as a film and received an Emmy as a television movie.
