The other day I was watching Vikings when I thought of reading a random Viking story to keep my mind off the fact that the TV series has already killed off Ragnar Lothbrok, and it is truly never the same without him. Sadly, I’ve finished all ten books of Bernard Cornwell about the Danes’ foray into England (the exceptional The Saxon Stories), and so I had to browse my e-shelf for another similar Viking story before coming across with this one. It's almost a tedious task reading this book when I ...more

Lara Ottarsdotter is skilled with a sword. She uses that skill to scare off would-be suitors so she doesn't have to endure a marriage like the one that killed her sister. When Finn Egilsson comes to her father's steading seeking vengeance on a mutual enemy, Lara's father sees a chance to marry her off; he'll help Finn out only if he marries Lara. Unwilling to marry again especially to a hot-tempered, sword-wielding redhead, Finn knows he has no other choice if he's to get the help he needs. Spyi ...more
I felt this medieval romance between a warlord (Finn) and wanna-be warrior princess (Lara) to be...romantic but wholly uneven. The growing mutual admiration and romance between the characters in the first part was interesting especially as it centered around chasing down the villian. But by the time the couple finally reach Finn's estate, somehow the romance between the two characters seemed kinda boring, particularly as the characters take on their traditional roles as lord and lady. Aside from ...more

Finn and Lara' s story was great. Finn made a bargain and with it he obtained a wife. A very saucy wife who would keep him on his toes. He never wanted to love again, because betrayal hurts. Lara the firery redhead did not want to marry at all, but she had to do her duty. In short order she fell for her husband, but could he love again? There were obstacles to overcome the one being an enemy in pursuit of Finn and the obstacle of overcoming his betrayal.

This was a hot and steamy viking romance t

"Fans have made Fulford’s Viking series a favorite since there is nothing quite like a strong, sexy, broad-shouldered warrior to make your heart beat faster. But it isn’t just her heroes who appeal to readers; it’s the strong heroines, exciting adventures and fast pace that keep them coming back for more. Now Fulford delivers what they want with this marriage-of-convenience/battle-of-wills romance (RT Book Reviews)". 4 stars

The third in the Victorious Vikings series while I enjoyed the book, it wasn't as good as the first two. I felt like Ms. Fulford didn't put in the details in the character development as much and for that reason I wasn't connected to either Lara or Finn. Still it was an easy read and if you are looking for a good book to read at the beach then this will fit the bill.

This book was purely average. Predictable characters, predictable plot, extremely flat antagonist. I got the book for 49c and it was what I expected. I did like that the book seemed pretty well-researched in terms of the gods and whatnot, but otherwise the book's a solid 3.

oh, and I hate the ending.

For as silly as the title is, this was an enjoyable read in the romance genre. I don't normally read historical romance anymore, but I have a soft spot for it (nostalgia), and I loved the characters in this book.

Joanna Fulford has been a full-time writer for a number of years now. Always an enthusiastic scribbler, she found that the urge to write only became stronger with time. In the end she decided to take a chance and quit the day job to find out if she could achieve success as an author. However, she couldn't have done it without her husband's unstinting support. Fortunately the gamble paid off. It ha ...more
