Wonderful second chances story. Lexi first appeared in Her Accidental Engagement as the attorney working against Julia in her custody battle. She was the one digging up dirt on Julia to threaten her with. By the end of that book, she had realized that Julia was the one who deserved custody and provided her with the leverage to win. This got her in big trouble with her father who humiliated her in front of her coworkers and then fired her. She has come back to Brevia to apologize to Julia and beg ...more

“Something had changed in her when she’d chosen her act of rebellion. From the start, she’d known he’d find out, and she’d understood there would be hell to pay. She also believed it couldn’t be worse than the hell she called a life.”

From the day she was adopted at six years old, Lexi Preston has done everything she can to be the perfect daughter to her adopted father, Robert Preston – this includes following in his footsteps to become a lawyer in his firm. All of that ended when Lexi went behin

Michelle Major, authoress. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

In her third book, A Brevia Beginning, Ms. Major continues the story of the Callahan family. If you’re an avid reader, it’s hard to inhabit someone’s world for a short time, never to return. I like being able to return to a family circle and read each person’s love story. That’s one reason to love Ms. Major’s work. I very much look forward to reading more from her!

In each of her stories, each character is very unique. You don’t

A Brevia Beginning is the third book in Michelle Major's Brevia, NC series and is a sweet romantic read. Lexi has been under her father's dictate since the day he adopted her and needs to gain her independence. Scott fully believes he makes a mess of every type of relationship that comes his way. And when these two meet, they are instantly attracted to each other. More importantly, each sees the other for who they really are, not the charades they've perfected over the years.

Ms. Majors has a un

Wonderful Contemporary Romance! I'm a big fan of this author! This is the third book in this series set in fictional small town Brevia, North Carolina. We get a peek previous characters, but even better, we follow Lexi, an attorney, and Scott, a US Marshall, both of whom are having an identity crisis. Lexi tries her hand a serving as a bar maid while Scott finds himself owner of the bar. The sexual tension sizzles in this well written story that shows real life characters with real life problems ...more

Recommends it for: those reading this sweet series.
We meet Lexi and Scott in the 2nd book and now it is their turn for love. This time the main characters are two people that feel they don’t quite measure up to their families” expectations. Lexi was the callous attorney that was representing baby Charlie's grandparents in his custody case in the 2nd Book.(My favorite book of this Series.) It turns out, Lexi really was not heartless at all. It was her unethical, but caring decision to turn over damaging information about her clients to her oppone ...more

This third installment from Brevia, NC was by far my favorite. I didn't like Lexi from the last book when she meddled in the custody fight, but this story made her one of my favorite characters! I loved the transformation from her being a scared, timid girl who was trapped in her own life due to her Father's control to a strong, successful woman. I also enjoyed getting to know Scott and watching him fall in love for the first time with someone who was not his typical kind of girl.

I am a huge fan of continuity books and this one was a hit! I never expected Lexi to have her own story or that she had enough of a personality to support a book. Boy was I wrong, she proved to be a dynamic character who I fell in love with! I also didn't think I would like Scott, but the author created a character I fell in love with!

I absolutely recommend this story!

Michelle Major is my favorite Harlequin writer! I have read all of her books and I loved this third book in the author's series set in Brevia, North Carolina. Both Lexi and Scott had to go through some big changes to get to their happy-ever-after. Major's snappy dialogue and sizzling chemistry made it such fun to go along on their journey to love. Lexi learned to believe in herself and helped Scott realize he had more to offer than he thought. I also liked re-visiting characters from her previou ...more

I've had the wonderful opportunity to preview an early copy of this book and it's no secret how much I love this writer who does small town Brevia so well.

This is a world I'm now a part of, a town I wish could be real. I've never been so hooked.

If anyone's looking for humor, hilarious dogs as sub characters, swoon worthy hot heroes and heroines you can relate to...I say Harlequin Special Editions and Michelle Major are as close to what a perfect romance escape should be.

"Major’s tale of opposites is poignant. Her outsider heroine and troubled hero seem doomed, but as Major weaves their story she makes them fit perfectly in spite of their complexities. Her North Carolina hamlet and co-stars enhance the realism (RT Book Reviews)". 4 1/2 stars
