Prologue:

The queen’s prediction proved accurate. The heavy door barely closed behind Matilda when Rhiann heard it creak open again. She stood in front of the hearth trying to draw ragged breaths into her suddenly ti

‘Her severed arm fell uselessly to the ground.’

Author Lynn Wood writes romance novels – and her output is staggering! She tends to writing is sets of books that allow her fantasy to continuously enlarge and explore all the possibilities of her initial plot line. As she is want to state, she writes ‘about the intersection of the supernatural with everyday life. Where does reality end and fantasy begin?’ THE NORMAN BRIDE SERIES, of which this book is the initial volume, is set in medieval times in

I liked this book a lot, medieval romances are my favorite, and I really wish they would make more of a comeback. The heroine Rhiann is presumed to be the only person still alive in her family after the Norman invasion. The king bestows Rhiann and her father's estate to a loyal Norman warrior Nathan. There isn't as much angst and fighting between Rhiann and Nathan as the reader may expect. Rhiann really understands that she has no choice but to marry Nathan, and Nathan is very happy to wed ...more

Received in a First Reads giveaway, this has not influenced my review.
I was hoping for a historical romance set during the Norman conquest. What I got was a mess of a romance that didn't seem to matter when it was set.
Very limited historical content, some sex, & a "mysterious" family heirloom.
Told from the point of view of both lovers, neither side especially convincing.
Every time we see Nathan's viewpoint he is telling himself he needs to put his wife in her place, or he is smelling her "fe

I really enjoyed this book! It was so interesting! I have always been interesting in books that are set in the past. I have never read a book from this time period before, but now I would love to read more!
Rhiann was such a likeable character. I wish I had her spirit! I really want to read another book that continue Rhiann and Nathan's story. Did they ever go back to Heaven's Crest? Is everyone in her family really dead? I also wan

For full disclosure I received the book through Goodreads First Reads.

Loved this book! Nathan was very patient and thoughtful for his new brides feelings. Rhiann was shocked finding herself married to an enemy Knight that she would be bound for life to. When Rhiann was abducted Nathan was very determined to find her. Nathan was very surprise when he found her! A very wonderful read! A must read!

It was a nice story and i enjoyed it, but i was expecting a book with more historical content. The Norman Conquest was a fascinating period in English history, and more historical facts included would of made it great book, i have enjoyed Philippa Gregory and Hilary Mantel books in the past and this book could of been as interesting.

I can only assume that there might be a sequel in the making for this since there are so many loose ends and questions left unanswered - Overall very disjointed and a very confusing read.

I really enjoyed this book. I would have liked more of the story especially about the stone, but I guess will have to wait for book 2. I liked both characters and the story flowed very well.

Lynn writes across a variety of genres in a generally light-hearted fashion about the intersection of the supernatural with everyday life. In both fiction and non-fiction, adult and young adult, her characters are all confronted with the extraordinary intruding and interrupting the course of their ordinary lives. At times this lends itself to a paranormal element woven throughout the plot, at ...more
