I think I read this expecting to hate it, which begs the question, why did I read it? I have no idea. But I did wind up enjoying it. Parts made me roll my eyes-- purple prose! awful. i was intrigued by the premise, thinking that by reading i might empathize with her reasoning, but her reasoning turned out to be nothing but excuses for living her life the way she decided. if she unapologetically wrote a memoir about her her role as a mother, i might could have enjoyed it, but i don't want to hear her list of excuses. her writing style made me think that even she felt bad about her choices. this book made me angry.
