12I just finished this, and I'll get my review up ASAP.
I'm a fan of CIRCUSPUNK now, and I recommend this book to anyone suffering coulrophobia… You might not be terrified of them now, but, once you spend a day in their ginormous shoes - You'll be more terrified of becoming one of them!!
I wonder what you would call that phobia...

I was going to say a little about each story as this author deserves all the accolades one could bestow upon her. *Pause*

Custody - The Orosco Family poodle is very talented and performs in the circus. The poodle is raped in front of the audience by a competing circus mutt. The Orosco's take it to court to see what can be done.

Dalton Stickles Joins the Rodeo - ...or not

El Raton - Santiago, the contortionist, performs the circus wank.

First of May - Newcomers to the circus must work their way up. D

Everyone was happy, there was music, great acts, tons of fun, right? But what went on behind the scenes? Did you really think these clowns, actors, animals were the same in and out of the Big Top, wasn’t that part of the fantasy of the circus? OMG......I don't know exactly where to start!! I had a lot of fun reading this book of short stories. This book had me smiling or laughing throughout the entire story and I was totally addicted. I just HAD to know if the next story was going to be better than the one before. Sure enough, I was not disappointing. I could not seem to put this book down, and when I wasn't reading, I was trying to find ways to get back to it or daydreaming of the stories I had already read. I also must say that I lo ...more

"Bumping Noses and Cherry Pie" is a collection of 26 short stories written in the vein of a new literary genre that the author, Charie D. LA Marr called "Circus Punk." This genre describes the stories in the book perfectly as they don't really fit into any other category. They're a marvelously awesome blend of Punk and Bizarro and each story offers a look at circus life that only a professional circus clown like the author can offer.

The stories are funny, gruesome, scary and mind-bending all at

The circus comes to town...and the carnival, midways and sideshows.

From the trappings of the big tent, elephants, magicians and clowns comes a series of (26) short stories, labelled 'circus-punk' which will delight, enthrall and in some cases just gross you out.

From Deedles the clown that won't be upstaged by newbie Pixy and sets about to ensure the attention is fully on her. The fun-house that a young boy dares to enter on his own and finds that it's not that fun after all.

It is not often you start a book where the author claims to have invented a new genre, but Charie D. La Marr claims just that and names it Circuspunk. I think the claim is valid, because I have never seen anything quite like this before. Accordingly, this is definitely the best book in this genre that I have seen. Bumping Noses and Cherry Pie contains 25 short stories all set in a circus or similar entity, and these contain a strange mix of sex, general grossness and splatter. There is satire, n ...more

In the nineties, I was a huge fan of a graphic novel called COTTON CANDY AUTOPSY by Dave Louapre. It was about a couple of alcohol and drug-fueled clowns partying with a circus freak. I had never read anything like it. It felt like a natural niche genre to me. Recently, I read BUMPING NOSES AND CHERRY PIE, and while it put me in the mind of that classic I had read a few decades ago, I have to say it took the promise of that bizarre clown tale I had loved and pushed the circus concept into its ow ...more

Bumping Noses and Cherry Pie. What a book! When I began reading this book, it was with a long standing dislike of clowns. After reading this book, I have a new appreciation of clowns, and the circus in general. I found many of the stories in it absolutely hysterical, several stories were beautiful and heartwarming, and a few were not so pleasant and almost scary. Yet I will be re-reading this book any chance I get. In short, I absolutely loved this book, and it made me realize that clowns, as we ...more

These stories were definitely a whole new genre that I've never experienced before- entertaining, definitely good for a few laughs and easy quick reads for when you just need a quick fix of something not so serious. Like I said, Circuspunk is like nothing I've ever read before but I'd definitely recommend to people looking for something new and different, especially if you like the circus, carnivals, clowns, sideshows and such. It's a glimpse at your childhood, only not quite. Lol! ;) Kellie
