David's trilogy, Chadash Chronicles, is a wonderful series. This story is a backdrop of one of the races found in that series. It gives a wonderful bit of info into one of the beloved characters, Goldain and the history of his people. Hopefully, David will add to this trilogy with more books as he has a distinct talent for making the characters come to life and helping us live through their struggles and adventures.

An engrossing introduction to the world of Chadash, this prequel goes a long way to establishing the author's voice, world-building skills, and the epic scope of his series. The mixture of mythology, magic and fable was finely balanced, leading to a most satisfying narrative - while this ...more

This 21 page preview of the Qarahni people is very effective being told by a Lorefather to an upcoming generation who need to hear about the history of their people.

Johnson portrays the Lorefather as one who loves children, loves his people and their heritage. This forms a great backbone to this short.

He has explained with passion what happened in this heritage that divided this unified race really well and I can see that this will aid the reader in understanding and appreciating the Chadash C

This is a short-story prequel to the Chadash Chronicles series, Book 1: Fool's Errand and Book 2: Mystic's Mayhem. This details some of the history and background of the Qarhani people, from which one of the Chadash Chronicles heroes, Goldain, is descended. It is a quick introduction to the world of Chadash, or one part of it at least, and should be a great appetizer before starting the Chadash Chronicles series.
