Fairly good summary of the benefits of fasting. This PhD needs an editor or spellchecker.

The author is supposedly a PhD - so I am at a loss as to why he cannot seem to spell the word "literally" correctly. In fact, he misspelled the word five times as "literarily" - a non-existent word. This in itself is troubling and makes me doubt the author's credibility; if not for the numerous footnotes, this book would have been useless to me.

This book was very short. It sort of billed itself as a literature review for laypeople, but a literature review it was not. It examined a precious few studies, though they did seem like landmark studies. It also did not discriminate between calorie restriction and calorie deficit and in fact did not address total daily calorie expenditure at all.
