Sometimes newspaper man Howie Rook is hired by a defense attorney to find the hit-and-run driver who purposefully killed an abusive husband. The district attorney is sure that the dead man's beautiful, much younger wife was driving the stolen car. After all, she doesn't have an alibi. But Howie figures out that the culprit must be a man who loves the wife. Unfortunately, that doesn't narrow the field much.
