If there's a gold standard in understanding political theory, this has to be the book. Lucid flow, quotable quotes, and an almost poetic flair in explaining politics. Highly recommended.

i love this book...fantastic work...helpful in understanding basic concept of political theory...justice, equality, liberty, society, individualism, ideologies etc
Lucid and concise. Anyone new to political theories should find this very accessible. It reviews each political school, its main ideas, pros and cons. It also tries to tackle the most fundamental problems in politics and human affairs; freedom, democracy, power and authority, rights, obligations, law, order, social justice and equality. What I really liked in the book that it cites a great number of references, books which are related to each topic.

Fantastic book -- a bit dry at times but that is almost inevitable if you consider in what an elementary way it approaches a highly theoretical subject. And does it quite well, incidentally.

I have learnt a lot and look forward to digging deeper into political thought. This is a really good start if you wish to cover the basics. Highly recommended if you have patience and care about a good theoretical grounding.
