My sisters and I recently visited Monticello, Jefferson's beloved home, and I found myself wondering why such a smart man, would have had several children with Sally Hemings, who in essence was most likely, his half-sister from his father's mistress, Betty. The Jefferson Foundation does affirm the patriarch of Virginia as the father of all the red-headed African Americans suddenly appearing at Monticello.
