"Squad 19 - Prequel Volume 1" by Nicholas Sansbury Smith is another well composed short story in the author's science fiction creation of the Biomass Revolution. Although it is a prequel as far as the time line is concerned, it can be read independently as it captures a short episode in the life of Obi Hepe, commander of Squad 19.

This here is a fairly short, but enjoyable read. In just a few short pages, Sansbury has created two main characters that just pop right off the page. By themselves these storys are just okay, but together with the intertwining of the two lives of Obi and Captain McNeil. And how their epic rivalry plays out on the last few pages creates a very enjoyable stand alone story.

My only two gripes about the story of Obi and Captain McNeil is that the prequel is just way too short. Usually in most short

Prequels are actually way better than the book itself. It's clear they were written after book 1 because it doesn't suffer from the same flaws that make book 1 a 2-3 Star book
