I read this book to my 3-year-old twin brother and sister. It had my little brother laughing, and my little sister ending the rhymes for me. It was amazing! She was THREE and choosing the end to Shel Silverstein's rhymes. This book gets kids laughing and motivated to listen for rhymes. I've used this book in pre-K through grade 2, and all of them have loved it. Definitely recommended!

I really enjoyed Shel Silverstein when I was younger, and thought I would see if my opinion stayed the same after reading this book, and it did. This would be a fun read aloud book. The student could even help read it by taking on the different roles in the story. (The bee on the knee, or the rat in his hat, etc.) It also gives the kids a chance to guess what will happen next.

I read this book to a class of fifth graders for a volunteer program I'm a part of. I was initially unsure whether this book was age appropiate, but they loved it. The pattern of the book lends itself to read-aloud and the kids really enjoyed how each section builds upon the previous and to see who could read it the fastest. Quite a bit of fun!

This is a very silly book, the kind that delights children with its silliness. I admit to laughing myself. The rhythmic, repetitive, building nature also makes it fun and easy to follow. I was not familiar with this Shel Silverstein book in my own childhood, though I loved his books then; I am glad to have found it to read to my daughter.

We liked the overall silliness of this rhyming and repetition book as the giraffe gets more and more absurd. My husband thinks it goes on a little bit too long, but my 2-year-old is fascinated to the end.

This book is almost like reading a poem. The text is repetitive, so it is great for young children. It is by one of my favorite authors who has a unique was of creating fun literature for young children.

A fun read for all ages, but I remember this best listening to an audio recording of Shel performing this poem. If you can find the audio version take a listen, if not enjoy the read :)

Another one of my daughter's books, but we both love this poem - used to be a favourite bedtime story (again, again, Daddy!), and is still a classic in our house.

I love to read this one to the children at my kids' school! They love repeating along with me. A fun read, although different than Silversteins others.

This was the Shel-Silverstein book my first-graders really got. It's got fun rhymes and a recursive story arc that youngsters can really pick up on.

A really cute book--the only reason I gave it 4 stars is because you get tired of reading it after awhile.

Fun book that teaches you don't need all that. I love that life is great with what you've got.
