Ms. McDaniel is an author I grew up with in my teenage years, exploring the devastating effect of childhood diseases such as leukemia. Though emotional, I have always enjoyed how she made me feel like these characters could be a fellow classmate, or a friend. At the same time, I was educated in not only the feelings these adolescents went through during such a hard period in their life, but also the knowledge I gained regarding the different diseases. Over the years I fell in love with the chara ...more
This novel presented serious issues. It is a sentimental read that seems dramatic and meant for girl readers. I believe that it shows readers how to overcome challenges. The protagonist is a girl who is diagnosed with AIDS. She is shocked and must come to grips with the situation. She meets a boy who she falls in love with, and he helps her die well, basically. This is not one that I would suggest to many readers. The sentimentality bothered me, and yet I read it quickly because it pulled at my ...more

This is one of the first set of Lurlene McDaniel. Most of these stories are about young teenagers who are faced with a life altering illness that could kill them and must live out there lives while they still can or try to fight to survive. All of these stories were very tragic and reminded me of the fault in our stars.

Lurlene never fails to make me cry with her amazing writing. Each and every book I've read by her has given me some new insight to life. She is by far my favorite author. These 3 books were fantastic!

Recommends it for: Girls
Sarah has lukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. She finds out she was adopted and hates her "parents" for it. She gets a letter that came from the Last Wish Foudation and it says the person who sent it has the initials JWC. It contained 100,000 dollars to spend how ever she wants.

The One Last Wish Novels are amazing . I think I was obsessed with them for the longest time. They are beautifully told and each story is as inspirational as the next. I think I've cried on a lot of them too xD

This book has three different stories about kids who are dying. A letter come to each of them granting one last wish just not about their health. This book allows students to see how even with health issues they can still live an eventful life.

It was amazing! It made me cry at some parts. It has amazing romance stories. Kind of reminds me of The Fault In Our Stars. If you like that book, you will enjoy this book for sure!

Awesome! Learn how to face challenges!

Theme: Actions speak louder than words.
great as always lurlene has written great stories

I've read many of McDaniel's books before. A lot of them seem like the same but they're all different in their own way.

“I hoped for a miracle, but most of all, I hoped for someone to truly understand what I was going through.

I can't make you live longer, I can't stop you from hurting but I can give you one wish as someone did for me. My wish helped me find purpose, faith, and courage. Friendship reaches beyond time and the true miracle is in giving, not recieving.”
