CHASING THE SHADOWS is book 3 in the Nikki and Michael series. While I do believe you can happily read this book as a standalone, I would still definitely recommend reading the books in order just because you’ll get the full range of emotions in terms of the romance between our main characters. The story and the mystery itself can work alone, but if you are a Keri Arthur fan, I would suggest starting with book one.

In this book we get a deeper insight into Nikki and Michael’s relationsh

Nikki and Michael are back in book three of Keri Arthur’s Nikki and Michael series. Nikki, a telepath and telekinetic, has had enough of playing house and waiting for Michael’s return from a mission. Things have been going well for the duo, but their relationship is still strained by Michael’s old-world ways sometimes. It’s nice to have a little tension in the relationship as it grows, but sometimes I felt it was overdone. The story this time takes us to San Francisco, and back to Jake, Nikki’s ...more
Delve deeper into the mind of Michael

This is the third book in the Nikki and Michael series by Keri Arthur. This book starts off four months later, where Nikki and Michael are living together. Michael is off on an assignment and is returning home . He gets information that he’s needed on another case in San Francisco. He says that he’ll do it but first he wants to get home to Nikki, though she’s not there, she’s already in San Francisco.

Nikki’s friend and boss Jake called Nikki to come to help
This is my favorite book in the series!

Arthur's world building is again fantastic. I love the world she created. Each book in the series add on to it. There are all kinds of different beings and elements added in this one as well.

The plot is rather predictable but very entertaining. This is a page turner! Lots of action, fantasy and the love story of Nikki and Michael make for a fun read.

But my favorite part is the character building. And in fact this is the best in the entire series. Yes, I kn
This is book 3 in the Nikki and Michael series & I'd strongly recommend that you read the series in order. Although I won't give spoilers for Chasing the Shadows in this review it will be impossible not to include things that may spoil the previous books so if you're new to the series I'd recommend you read the reviews for Dancing with the Devil. This is a series I'm thoroughly enjoying so I'd definitely recommend you check it out!

Nikki & Michael have now been a couple for several month
Chasing the Shadows is a heart pounding, non-stop, emotionally enthralling story. From page one, Keri Arthur hooked us with her memorizing characters and the dark magical world brought to life from Arthur's imagination. Bringing us a story that really hits home with our characters, new revelations and a battle for compromise, I found Chasing the Shadows my favorite Nikki & Michael story so far.

Chasing the Shadows by Keri Arthur is filled with all the ingredients for a good paranormal romance, like murder, mystery, love with that electric spark between Nikki and Michael that ignites passion, intense feelings and some fierce disagreements. Michael is very protective and Nikki is strong-willed and needs to feel she is an equal partner in their relationship. The problem is, as Nikki’s special powers grow, she has to struggle to keep them under control. Heading off to help Jake with a vamp ...more

I really like this series and Keri Arthur knows how to keep you engaged throughout her books and there’s never anything that makes me lose interest or bores me…

…BUT Nikki and Michael’s back and forward drives me insane. As soon as one of them is on board with their relationship the other ones starts doubting it. The most obvious solution in the world would be to start TALKING instead of screaming and butting heads.

I really get their points of view but the way they go about s
Damn this installment really made me nervous...Nikki and Michael are sooooo damn stubborn. Just the right about of action and passion. Nikki is really evolving but in to what who knows, not even Seline can get a handle all the changes that she's experiencing. Michael is not afraid to put his heart out there but he's scared to death of losing Nikki and he fights tooth and fang to keep her out of trouble but trouble just a knack of finding her and she's to hard headed to back away. She heads right ...more
In typical Michael and Nikki fashion, Nikki hasn’t been at the hotel where she’s investigating yet another disappearance much more than few minutes before she’s brutally attacked. Michael isn’t there to rescue her because he’s been off on his own investigation for 2 months, and Nikki was most emphatically not invited. Not content to stay home and out of the action, Nikki jumped at the chance to investigate the disappearance of the wife of one of Jake’s friends. Pretty soon it becomes clear that ...more
Chasing the Shadows by Keri Arthur was not a good story for me. I have not read the previous two books, so I knew nothing about Nikki and Michael and this book does not give much of background information to help a reader along, if they stumbled on this book first. It's not a stand alone story, since here are a lot of hints about previous fights, victims, friends, lovers ... but they are just empty hints, without any additional information, more like page filler than delicious crumbs that make y ...more
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I thought that after the ending of the last book, thing would be smooth sailing for Nikki and Michael (at least as far as their relationship goes), but boy was I wrong. This book is filled to the brim with horrible girl reasoning, stupid overbearing guy decisions, and arguments arguments arguments. It takes some pretty awful things to finally get these two to realize they are being idiots.

This book was another creature feature book,
Having enjoyed reading Arthur's work before, I was thrilled to have the chance to read and review Chasing the Shadows. I have not read the previous books in this particular series however Arthur was able to quickly catch me up to speed while at the same time throwing me right in the middle of the action. Michael was returning home having just finished a case only to be given a new one that Nikki had already agreed to look into. The reader quickly learns that despite having worked together in the ...more
Best yet ...

Nikki and Jakes' private investigative work and Michael's missions with the Damask Circle merge once again (much to Michael's displeasure) with a horrifying case that kept me turning the pages, enthralled.

Michael's condescending attitude and insistence that Nikki is a delicate flower in need of protection or bubble wrap borders on nauseating but I guess a 300 year old vamp isn't going to change his archaic attitude overnight.

I have had an infatuation with Keri Arthur from her Riley Jensen Guardian series to it's subsequent Dark Angels spin-off and now the her Nikki and Michael series. From what I understand these books were published some time ago but are getting a bit of a face-lift and being re-released. It was the perfect opportunity for me to read some more of her writings. The first too books I have read and re

Sheesh how much can one paranormal couple argue? That's all Nikki and Michael seem to do.
Get lovey-dovey, argue, get hot and passionate, then argue and so on. Time they both started acting like the adult and ancient vamp they are and stop going all hissy-fit teenager on each other.
Handsome and hunky or not I would find it extremely tiresome if my boyfriend the vampire flounced like a barbie on Red Bull all the time.
As for Nikki, it appears that she has the ability to pick up super powers like ot
"Nikki & Michael" walks the line between UF and PNR. The main focus is always on the leading couple, but there's no denying that the external plot is UF and interesting at that.

After three books the plot does seem a little bit repeated: vamp serial killer on the rampage, Nikki follows into peril, Michael gets furious. This time though it's the lady that saves the day (yeah!).
This is not to say that Chasing the shadows is in any way boring. The romantic thread will avoid it :) There are a
Third book sad and intermediate, Nikki and Michael are sill together like two children squabbling in a relationship in which he shows to be overprotective and absent and she is a passive-ggressiv person that scares me to death. For one of her choice we find ourselves in the same old plot: vampire who kidnaps and murders and the two heroes that always come too late. Let's say that if I had some kind of supernatural problem I would not call Michael, given that his success rate is a little low. I w ...more

Michael has been spending a lot of time on missions for the Circle lately and not nearly enough time with Nikki; he misses her terribly. And Nikki misses him – but is equally frustrated that they’re apart because he won’t take her on missions with him. This comes to a head more and more as Nikki rejects his constant protectiveness, his refusal to let her go into any kind of danger and risk and his insistence that she stay at home.

Especially since she has a case – as a private detective with Jake

Chasing the Shadows is the third book in the Nikki and Michael series by Keri Arthur. Micheal is finally coming home to Nikki after months away working, only to discover that Nikki is already investigating the next case he has been assigned to. The wife Jake's friend is missing, and Jake intends to find her regardless of the cost. The authorities believe the kidnappings to be the work of a sick mind, but Nikki knows that the truth is something much worse, particularly after she forms an unexpect ...more

Chasing the Shadows begins four months after Hearts in Darkness: Nikki and Michael Book 2 and finds Michael returning to the home they share after a three week absence doing work for the Circle. His anticipation of seeing Nikki after so long a separation is hampered by the fact that she's not home when he gets there. She left to go work on a case with Jake in San Francisco. Turns out, it's the same case the Circle now needs Michael to look into as well, the kidnapping and subsequent brutal murde ...more

I love this series, it is almost as good as the Riley Jensen series, though not quite.

Michael and Nikki along with her partner in the PI business jake are off to solve another vampire related death, a coupld of them actually. Nikki and Jake get their first - called by a friend of Jakes, whose wife has gone missing. Michael has just returned home from Circle Business and finds Nikki not there but see a note so he follows her to San Francisco and it turns out his boss at The Circle wants him there

Chasing the Shadows is book three in the Nikki & Michael series. The book can be read as a standalone, but I highly suggest you read these in order. If you choose to read them out of order, you will miss out on what happened between the two main characters, how they got together, their previous missions, etc. Anyway onto the characters.

Nikki is restless just sitting around waiting for Michael to come back from missions he deems too dangerous for her to tag along. So when Jake, her former bos

Michael’s reluctance to have her assistance on cases for the Damask Circle, her lack of work since Jake’s injuries on their last case, and seclusion in a cabin she shares with Michael has Nikki wondering if she made the right decision. The restlessness encompassing her soul begins to ease when Jake invites her to San Francisco to aid in a case. With Michael on another case without her, she ceases the opportunity to do what she loves most, find trouble.

This series just gets better and better. Each book builds on the adventures the duo have had in the past, and the dangers they've faced. He's not happy about it but finally agrees he's the best person for the job, and although he was looking forward to seeing N

Chasing the Shadows is the third book in the Nikki and Michael series which is Urban Fantasy in genre and involves vampires.

Women are being kidnapped and held for ransom, but even though it was paid, the bodies are beginning to turn up, murdered and horribly mutilated.

After his near death, Jake agreed to go to San Francisco to work as a Security Manager at a fancy hotel, in hopes that this rather unexciting job would allow him time
