This is book 3 in the Nikki and Michael series & I'd strongly recommend that you read the series in order. Although I won't give spoilers for Chasing the Shadows in this review it will be impossible not to include things that may spoil the previous books so if you're new to the series I'd recommend you read the reviews for Dancing with the Devil. This is a series I'm thoroughly enjoying so I'd definitely recommend you check it out!

I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review.
At long last Nikki and Michael's relationship has become what it could have always been. Michael isn't playing the "I'm a creature of the night; I don't deserve love" card, but there are still issues. In this latest installment of Keri Arthur's Nikki and Michael series Nikki is on the hunt for a sadistic killer. Four women have been kidnapped, ransomed and when two of womens' loved ones paid the ransom they received their mutilated corpses...more

I always enjoy Keri's books, and this continuation of the story of Nikki and Michael was fascinating. As Nikki starts to realise what powers she now has, she has to battle with the protective instincts of a 365 year old vampire who is terrified he will somehow lose her.
Their love isn't questioned as they battle with a new and horrifying killer and his minions, the question is whether they can stay together if half of Michael's life is hidden from Kate.
I found this a really good book and the char...more

Delve deeper into the mind of Michael

This is the third book in the Nikki and Michael series by Keri Arthur. This book starts off four months later, where Nikki and Michael are living together. Michael is off on an assignment and is returning home . He gets information that he’s needed on another case in San Francisco. He says that he’ll do it but first he wants to get home to Nikki, though she’s not there, she’s already in San Francisco.

Nikki’s friend and boss Jake called Nikki to come to help...more

Since the beginning of their relationship, vampire Michael has wanted to keep Nikki safe, and to do that he has to keep her apart from his working life with The Circle. As a private investigator Nikki knows that sometimes you can’t protect someone by keeping them ignorant or keep them safe without smothering them and this often leads to heated arguments. When her partner Jake is asked to look into the disappearance of a friend’s wife, she is more than ready to show Michael she can take care of h...more

Nikki and Michael are back in book three of Keri Arthur’s Nikki and Michael series. Nikki, a telepath and telekinetic, has had enough of playing house and waiting for Michael’s return from a mission. Things have been going well for the duo, but their relationship is still strained by Michael’s old-world ways sometimes. It’s nice to have a little tension in the relationship as it grows, but sometimes I felt it was overdone. The story this time takes us to San Francisco, and back to Jake, Nikki’s...more

I love this series, it is almost as good as the Riley Jensen series, though not quite.

Michael and Nikki along with her partner in the PI business jake are off to solve another vampire related death, a coupld of them actually. Nikki and Jake get their first - called by a friend of Jakes, whose wife has gone missing. Michael has just returned home from Circle Business and finds Nikki not there but see a note so he follows her to San Francisco and it turns out his boss at The Circle wants him there...more

Chasing the Shadows is the 3rd book in the Nikki & Michael series, so some series spoilers may exist.

Reading Order:
Dancing with the Devil (Nikki & Michael, #1) Hearts in Darkness (Nikki & Michael, #2) Chasing the Shadows (Nikki & Michael, #3)

In Chasing the Shadows Nikki and Michael have been living together for a little under four months. Michael returned to her, after leaving (view spoiler)[when she gave him her blood to save his life. He was fiercely worried about harming her (hide spoiler)] until he "got the beast back under control". He's now realized that "after living alone for over three hundred and si...more

3.65 (ARC copy from NetGalley)

The main relationship issue between Nikki and Michael could've been handled better on both their parts. It drove me a bit batty. Especially with Nikki.

Unfortunately this issue seemed to subsume the plot, which had a villain that was very cliche and one note (think 80s high school movie).

While this was not my favorite installment, this is still an interesting series and I look forward to the next one.

Netgallery addition for honest review

#3 in Keri Arthur's Nikki and Michael series.
Chasing the Shadows is about growth, but not without growing pains.
Michael is trying to keep Nikki away from danger (300 yr old vampires are such bossypants), but they must work together with Jake to solve the mystery of kidnapping and murder. I have enjoyed the series so far and look forward to book 4!

Nicki is starting to realise how much power she now has. Her love for Michael is never in question but can she stay with him if she only sees half his life. Michael is trying to keep her out of the circle because he can’t let her get hurt, he loves her so much he can see his life without her. Nicki grows up a lot in this book and Michael let Nicki into his life complete give or take. This book was very sad in places and more about their relationship than the other two which I really enjoy I can’...more

I loved this book, as I have the whole series so far! The characters are just awesome; Michael is so sweet, but also major kickarse when he needs to be and Nikki makes a refreshing change to the usual 'bow down and behave' women in some of the stories I have read. She is amazing, sticks up for herself and what she believes in and takes no shit from anyone. Am going onto the last book right now!

Damn this installment really made me nervous...Nikki and Michael are sooooo damn stubborn. Just the right about of action and passion. Nikki is really evolving but in to what who knows, not even Seline can get a handle all the changes that she's experiencing. Michael is not afraid to put his heart out there but he's scared to death of losing Nikki and he fights tooth and fang to keep her out of trouble but trouble just a knack of finding her and she's to hard headed to back away. She heads right...more

I love this book, even though I have just started it Nikki and Michael have sucked me into it. It makes me feel sad that there's only 4 books in this series, I could see it going farther.
Amanda
Couldn't put it down as love the characters Nikki and Michael's on going struggle to drop their barriers and allow themselves to trust and love each other.

This had a couple of twists that were unexpected which bad the story better for me. Ever notice how when a person could be ripped away that the one in denial will suddenly realize how much he wants to be with that person?

Finally they are together. Happily ever after finally. Still, I feel there should be another book in this series.
