This book is interesting in terms of the presentation of the factual material about the tank battle on the Northern Front of the Yom Kippur War; however, I don't see the need for the writer's personal dilemma to be included at all, much less narrated in such detail. To be honest, I left most of it out when reading the book. His personal story has nothing to do with what the book was about. I don't think he should've promoted himself this way.

Well written account of war.

Found this book an excellent read, honest, gritty and regardless of what you think of Israel and its politics you can see how they are formidable warriors, know the meaning of the word team!
Also interesting from a tank warfare aspect.
Overall highly recommended.

This was a great book to read, and see how people react under extreme circumstances, even when they don't know all the facts, for instance, where the enemy is.
Ori Orr was an outstanding commander and who was admirably there for all under his command.
I found it a cliff hanger of a book at times. And yea politics at the end of the book, that hangs a man without looking at the facts.

Where interesting book by very interesting author. Extremely difficult to read because, I assume, of bad translation

Ori Orr (אורי אור) (sometimes spelled "Uri Or") is an Israeli politician and retired military officer. He spent 30 years (1957-1987) in the IDF, ultimately rising to the rank of General, and ended his career as GOC Northern Command. He later went into politics, and was elected to the Knesset on the Labor Party list. He also served as Deputy Minister of Defence during the late 1990s.
