It seems forever ago that I read this series -- it was during my junior year that I stumbled across the first book. I was immediately hooked. The way Tolkein and Rowling did (albeit with less commercial success), the Eddings were able to not only create a great story and characters but to develop and entire world for their characters to inhabit. Highly recommended.

This is different than what I would normally read seeing as it's an "adventure/fantasy" story. I would say it`s a mix between Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings and I loved it. A friend suggested it and although I was hesitant, I read it. I'm not sure it's for everyone and perhaps it's geared towards adolescents but it is interesting nonetheless.

This book rates higher than it's generally warranted to because of the simply because I have many fond memories about reading these books (keep in mind also, this is the edition I got around to buying a few years ago, but I read them long before that- the editions here are the ones I have to lend)

Simply fantastic. No other way to put it. David Eddings has spun a captivating tale, and with each new twist in the plot, the book becomes better and better. Wonderful book, filled with action, adventure, mystery, and fantasy all rolled into one amazing series.

I've read this series at least a dozen times and every time is a great experience. David Eddings is a fabulous story teller with a great sense of humor and a talent for creating real and relatable characters in the realm of Fantasy.

A favorite of mine as a child, with characters of perhaps a stereotypical sort, but well-written and enjoyable in the end. Plenty of magic, mayhem, plots, and characters, these books whet my appetite for fantasy.

I've been on a fantasy binge for the past couple months. I worked my way through the Belgariad, the Mallorean, and Belgareth the Sorcerer.
All quite good. Fantasy, adventure, with a bit of humor.

These books were the best Eddings I ever read. The last book, in particular, is just as epic as anything in LOTR. Too bad the Malloreon sucked. Zandramas, who gives a shit?

I loved these when I was a kid, but holy racial and ethnic stereotyping, Batman! Ripping off Tolkien is all well and good, but politically these make me cringe as an adult.

See review for volume 1. In addition, I will simply say that I appreciate Edding's emphasis on the positive aspects of marriage, life, and friendship.

I also love to re-read these books for some insanely fast eyes candy. I have been reading heavy non-fiction a lot lately and now i want to veg.

My favorite fantasy series and my first! I had to hide these from my Mom because I was only allowed to read books for the Christian Bookstore.

The Belgariad was my favorite series starting in fourth grade, I've re-read it at least 20 times... and it's still great every time I do.

I actually read this book a while ago and can't remember to much of it. Once I do I'll put a different rating and write another review.

The entire Belgariad series was fantastic - David Eddings did a great job of character development for an ensemble cast.

Loved this series. I had to replace my paperbacks with the hardback compilation, though, as they were falling apart.

Charming fantasy series. It's not that it wasn't fun, I just think I discovered Eddings a little too late.

See the other Belgariad review. Good ending and all is tied up pretty nicely... just the way I like it.
