This is the debut novella by Alyssa Stark and it is enjoyable and romantic. It is only a novella so the plot fairly skips along, as do most novellas. A lot of effort has been put into these characters to make them 'real' and to a certain point, that succeeds. The one character where I feel this has fallen short is that of John Campbell. I very much enjoyed this book. I smiled through most of it. I wish however that it was slightly longer so that we could see them fall in love a bit more, when she was nursing him back to health. Otherwise lovely just lovely.

It was unremarkable. Everything fell into place and was too perfect. I read it and a week later, didn't even remember what it was about. Light, easy read and the Hogmanay aspect was good to read about.
