Not nearly as dense and detailed as Steve Grody's massive Graffiti L.A.: Street Styles and Art, it is still an excellently designed book showcasing many of the best writers in L.A.

Unlike Graffiti L.A.: Street Styles and Art this is all about the images. There is a brief, but strong introduction by Gastman at the front, and then it lets the work speak for itself.

I do sometimes wish we could see both closeups of the work ad also wider shots which place the work more in context of its surroundin

The subtitle for this book is seriously pretentious. I mean, do we need to know anything else about the book other than "Los Angeles Graffiti"? I think not. The pictures look nice, but there is no context at all to go along with them. The best part is the page with a Buff Monster wall that has been written over by Rime, Revok and Sever with a message: "Find Another Subculture." Classic.
