4.57  ·  Rating Details ·  7 Ratings  ·  1 Review
Perhaps the best known of the Iclenadic Sagas - Egils Saga recounts the incredible life of Egill Skallagrimsson, an Icelandic farmer, viking and skald. The story flows at a break-neck speed through every part of early Icelandic life and includes some of the most prized fragments of Old Norse poetry. The text printed here is the original Old Norse.

I may pick this up again, because I did finally get to Egil himself. This was the first Icelandic saga I attempted, and I wasn't prepared for the weight of the genealogy stuff. Compared to Laxdoela, which I started while still in the middle of this one, Egil's Saga is less compelling to me, so I'm pressing forward on L instead.
