A bit of a mis-sell, Titanic Voices: Memories from the Fateful Voyage actually looks at the ties and impact that the White Star Line and the Titanic had on Southampton, England. It’s an interesting perspective to take on the Titanic disaster, but it becomes apparent rather quickly that the editors are stretching for material; and they end up including a lot of oral histories and other materials that are inane and redundant. Yet, they do offer an eye-opening look at how connected to the town the ...more
Invaluable resource for someone interested in the disaster. It's teeming with first-hand accounts of every aspect of the ship's voyage, including transcripts of some of the British Investigation that occurred afterwards. This is an excellent documentary history - a throughly engrossing and enlightening compendium of firsthand, contemporary accounts of the Titanic. The whole work is excellently arranged and comes together to present a remarkably evocative and informative sequential set of accounts. This is history speaking for itself, no high falutin theories here, and, perhaps it is all the more moving simply for that fact.
I actually bought this book for a friends birthday and ended up reading it before I gave it to him! but I found it really interesting. This book is about the town of South Hampton, England. The entire crew of the Titanic was from this town and it is about the trials the town held against the White Star line as to the cause of the sinking.

It has great photographs. Great perspective on the Titanic disaster.
A remarkle collection of first hand accounts by the survivors of the sinking. A great companion to the audio cd with actual interviews with the survivors. Well worth adding to your Titanic collection.
Very interesting book. Gave a lot of first hand, original source information gathered from survivors or contemporaries rather than the opinions of two generations later.
One of the better Titanic books I've read. Lots of pictures and interesting facts.
