Barbara Hamby's poems are always a delight to read. She plays with words, populating her two-page odes with puns and alliterations, history lessons and travel guides for those who lose their luggage in Italy. The reader reads the poems of ON THE STREET OF DIVINE LOVE as if they were chapters in an intriguing whodunit, staying up into the unmentionable hours to read about the bad girl in the mambo Cadillac and the narrator's 1977 Toyota. Barbara Hamby was born in New Orleans and raised in Hawai’i. She now lives in Tallahassee, Florida. She teaches creative writing in the English Department at Florida State University.
