As a child who loved to doodle in the margins of my papers, I highly recommend this guide to doodles. Each letter of the alphabet becomes the basis for a new animal, object or person, and the way each doodle is presented would make it easy to follow. I like that by the end, I was thinking of my own things to do with each letter.
This is not a "serious" art book, but for the boy or girl who just likes to draw or is maybe just exploring an interest in art, this would be perfect. More...

D is for Doodle, by Deborah Zemka, is a great example of a “How To” book. This book takes each letter of the alphabet and turns it into some sort of finished drawing. Each conversion proved step-by-step drawings and illustrations that are easy to follow. Not only will this book help the reader to create successful drawings, but it will also show the reader the importance of how to read and follow directions.

Fun, funny step by step drawing book. This is suitable for kids, but I enjoyed it as an adult. Nice book design and illustrations.
