Yeah this is the authoritative feminist overview of Austen's textual history. Sutherland's meticulous research reveals the significance of even tiny punctuation changes between editions, as she effectively and completely persuasively argues that Austen's manuscript history reveals the same kind of social and verbal prescriptivism that her books implicitly critique.
Also, Sutherland is the rarity of my dreams: an academic who writes in relatable, sassy prose! Jane would be proud!!

Saw it, bought it (for a bucket of money)and hated it... utterly academic, boring and unreadable. If you have it on your "to read" list, well, uncheck it from your "to read list". Take my advise and be happy and content without this book...
