Kay Hooper ties crime, romance, and paranormal together in the Bishop/SCU series. This particular book is the third of a mini series that the Bishop/SCU series consists of. The main character, Riley Crane, is a clairvoyant FBI agent assigned to the Special Crimes Unit under Noah Bishop. She was called by a friend to investigate a series of crimes in Opal Island. The book begins with her waking up with amnesia and proceeds with her trying to figure out what happened to her, what is going on on Op

It's been awhile since I've read a Bishop novel, and it turns out I've really missed them. There were a few duds in the series, but this book was a sure winner.
The whole premise was great -- imagine waking up covered in blood and finding out you'd lost three weeks worth of memories, including falling in love with your soulmate. Riley had to pretend nothing was wrong and try her best to find out exactly what happened to her. I loved Ash from the start and only grew to love him mo More...

From back cover:
"Special Agent Riley Crane woke up in a beach cottage fully dressed, a gun under her pillow, and covered in blood. Even more frightening, she didn't remember what had happened the night before. She barely remembered anything about the previous three weeks. As the Special Crimes Unit expert on the occult, Riley had been sent to Opal Island by her enigmatic chief Noah Bishop to investigate reports of dangerous occult activity. But she's awoken to discover that she' More...

Kay is my go-to writer for consistently being pleased with taking the time to read something.
This is the last book in the "Fear" series. I'd already devoured "Hunting Fear" and "Chill of Fear" within days before picking this one up.
I really liked this one. It had the usual paranormal activity but also some confusing twists and turns. There was some good suspense and I truly wasn't sure who the main character should be trusting. I love it when I'm More...

I, for one, love the Bishop/FBI SCU stories, and thought this book was an excellent addition to the series.
Riley Crane wakes up in bed at her rental cottage in Opal Island, only to realize she's covered in dried blood and has no memories of the last three weeks. Apparently, she was on the island to investigate supposed black magic/occult activities while claiming she was on vacation--but she has no recollection of that fact. She also doesn't remember that she's become romantically i More...

This book starts out with a scene from the very first page that will not let you put the book down. You start out on the first page with a FBI agent with blood all over her and a loaded gun in a bed waking up. Then as she wakes she doesn't remember anything. Then the book is a fast roller coaster ride till the very end. I recommend this book to any one who likes sci-fi drama.

i have to be perfectly honest - i have no idea what is going on with this trend of mixing thriller-crime stories with the paranormal. not that i have anything against the paranormal, it's just not what i usually sign up. and stupid Iris Johansen is mixing her two worlds, so i'll get paranormal AND eve duncan, forensic sculptor extraordinaire . . .
anyway. i liked riley. she was a strong, good character, though really, if i was suffering from amnesia and the first thing i realized was More...

Kay Hooper at her best. Full of suspense, mystery, supernatural elements and lots of twists and turns. This is the final book in the Fear trilogy which is part of the Bishop/Special Crimes Unit and my favorite so far.

This is my second read of this book, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love this series. It makes the paranormal look like a scientific certainly and I love the way it's used within an FBI organization. Top notch stories and characters as well. This one features a female agent, Riley, who wakes up one morning with blood on her and can't remember the last three weeks. She is amazed to find that she's been sleeping with Ash, the district attorney and struggles to remember anything helpful. Since her

This is a good murder mystery/thriller. The main character is a psychic with the FBI. The psychic connection seems to be becoming more popular in thrillers, in particular. Interesting!

I listened to the Audio version of this book. While I liked the begining of the story, by the fouth disk (about the twelfth chapter) I found the book got very repetitive and the story dragged.

Good mystery with some super natural. I didn't realize it was the third in a series, there were a few times when I thought more about this would help, but now I think the information was likely in the first two books.

I picked this up somewhere or someone gave it to me and I finally read it. It was quick and entertaining but not much to it. I recommend it for a quick read.

This is a great psychic thriller mystery. It was so good I started another by the same author. I did not figure it out until the author shared it.

I enjoyed the suspense and I found it hard to put down. It is not really memorable though, just a quick entertaining read.

The first Kay Hooper book I ever read. LOVED IT! Riley is a memorable character...too bad her memory can't be trusted!

I listened to this on cd. It was pretty good, but delved into occult a little, which is creepy to me!

This is another great book by Kay Hooper in the Bishop/SCU series. This is great series for those who love the paranormal mixed with murder mystery. I highly recommend this entire series.

I'm sure you're probably wondering why I read yet another paranormal FBI mystery when they are basically the same story over and over. Well, I like "Mystery She Wrote" that should say it all right there. Plus, i've been listening to them as audio books while i work, so i don't really have to concentrate that hard, but they still keep my attention. I like to call them "beach books" something i can pick up and put down with little brain activity! i'd rate it a PG-13 for languag

Wasn't my favorite in the Bishop trilogy, but I did enjoy it. The thought of waking up covered in blood with no idea of what happened in the three weeks prior is pretty scary. Add to that the inability to use her paranormal senses and packing up and going home would be the first option. Rita doesn't pack it up, but she's left to try and figure out who committed the occult murder with no idea of who she can trust. While it works out in the end, there are some interesting twists and turns along th
