Like every child, this little boy is thrilled to get his own big boy bed. No more crib! This story tells about all of the wonderful things that go along with having a big boy bed. The best parts of having his own big boy bed are that he can get out of bed whenever he wants, and there is plenty of room for his cat, toys and books to sleep with him.
The bright and colorful watercolor illustrations will appeal to young children. Young readers will also enjoy tracking the location of the sneaky kitt

My Big Boy Bed, written by Eve Bunting and illustrated by Maggie Smith, is a realistic fiction story about a little boy that gets a big boy bed so his new little brother can sleep in his crib. This is a great book for parents to read to young kids. It helps them with the transition from sleeping in a crib to an actual bed, and with having a new baby in the house. Reading this with kids can also help interest them in reading at a young age because this is simple enough for them to start reading w ...more

I picked up this book because it seemed like a good story to kind of help my son start sleeping in his bed instead of with me and his daddy every night, and I think in a few years it probably will be. The little boy in this story is discovering all the fun, new things about his big boy bed. It has more room than his crib, he can get out of it whenever he wants (even if his parents DO tell him to get back in) and he can even read in his bed! This seems to be more for a child getting used to a new ...more

"Final Project" - Author Study: Eve Bunting

Although this was a fairly basic book with few underlying themes, it did portray the theme of excitement. Basically, the young boy is excited that his parents bought him a new bed. This is an excellent story that children can create their own version of. This is the case because primary aged kids seemed to have a possession or two that usually is attached to their hip. Any practice reading is worthwhile and "My Big Boy Bed" provides an excellent opportu

This was nice since it included moving to the big boy bed in order to make room for a baby. While that's not why Will moved into his big boy bed (over a year ago), it would've still been a good book. It was a little annoying that it made being able to get out of bed on his own somewhat encouraged (not just to go to the bathroom), it was very cute that the reason the boy wanted to get out of bed was to see his baby brother (or was it sister?).

A nice, positive view of graduating from a crib AND becoming a big brother. Where's the complimentary My Big GIRL Bed--we could use both!!
