This is a thesis turned into a book, and I felt it was lacking in both the qualitative and quantitative details that could have brought the story of this forgotten war to life.

This book gave me the valuable knowledge that there are not only blood diamonds, but blood cashews: harvested from plantations rendered off-limits to their rightful owners by landmines, and smuggled into Guinea-Bissau from Casamance to be sold as the main means of supporting a violent uprising.
