“Jackson Democracy: Myth or Reality?” is a collection of essays by 19th and 20th century historians that view Jackson from a variety of perspectives. It includes examinations of Jackson’s role in the administrative system and the transformation of democracy, his personal characteristics, the Homeric battles of his administration, Jackson as King or leader of the workingman’s movement, his followers and his symbolism.
