Loneliness suffocates the heart. Acceptance breaks down walls.

As a Lost Girl to the Forsaken Motorcycle Club, Nicole Whelan knows how to party. She’s not cut-out for relationships and her life is way too complicated for anything more than casual encounters. But one night when she falls into Duke’s bed at the clubhouse, he sees something in her that he can’t let go of—no ma

Thrash by J.C. Emery is book two in her The Bayonet Scars series. This is a book about a young woman with too much on her shoulders and the man who finally takes notice. While book one in the series, Ride, was unique in the sense that the author creatively mixed both the mafia and biker worlds, this second installment takes place solely on biker ground. The heroine knows a
DUKEEEEEEEE! Also does anyone else not-so-secretly hope it's Duke and Nic!?!?
My rating for this book was a solid 3.5 stars. This was another biker romance series that had its up and downs for me. When all was said and done though, I found that I did enjoy reading about the club members that were involved. If this is the start of a series then I most definitely look forward to future books, as I have a feeling that this will be one of those series that get better as it continues on. I did enjoy the storyline with the main characters; but there was major potential for the ...more

I wasn't a big fan of Ride but for some reason really liked Duke. I was hoping against hope he and Alex would end up together. I assume he'll get his HEA in this book.

This is the second instalment of “The Bayonet Scars” series.
We met Nic and Duke in the first book.
We just didn’t know the backstory.

Nic has had a shit life.
Her Mother was a club whore. Who eventually snagged a good man. Hoever when that biker went to jail she split.
Leaving Nic to care for her brother and take all responsibility of both parents.

Nic finds an outlet, and that just happens to be the Forsaken MC.
No responsibility. No strings attached.

DNF. Lost me about half way through... Duke wasn't much of an alpha male and more of a meany who could switch on and off and Nic was just a big baby.. He kept saying how tough she was but fuck that girl just whines and bitches and doubts everything it pissed me off... To the point where I just didn't really care about them anymore- therefore I couldn't finish their book.... Kind of disappointing because I loved the first book in this series

Thrash starts off before Ride takes place. We find out Nic's history with Secretary of the Forsaken Motorcycle club Duke, how it came about and why she is so determined to stay away from the club and Duke. The first time you see the inside of the club, it's obvious a lot has already taken place with the mafia and Ryan in the previous book. Reviews who are saying this could be read as a standalone...I'm sorry, but I can't se

I have to say this is a huge step up from Ride, and I really liked Ride. This was just so much better. My review is going to ramble, but there are so many thoughts about this book, on why it's different and why I enjoyed it so much.

The main FC (Nicole) is different than most main characters written. She's a Lost Girls, aka club whore who becomes an Old Lady. Loving this. We get to see the ramifications of being a Lost Girl on her outside life...with her brother, etc. She feels inadequate and un

I really enjoyed the first of this series, which was Alex and Ryan's story. I was hoping that their story continues in this book despited this being Duke and Nicole's story... but no, I only got a glimpse or two of them, after the incident that is. So that was disappointing.

I loved Duke in the first book, and I love him more here. Another hot biker alpha who claimed his lady as his and that would be Nicole. Yeah he screwed up, but he proved himself after.

I didn't quite get Nicole in the

The second installment of this series follows Nic and Duke.

Events in this book run simultaneous with the first book, this caused me some confusion as I read a lot and it has been awhile since I read book 1. I tried not to allow this to affect my thoughts on this book as my memory is awful on a good day!

While I enjoy a good MC read, the grammatical mistakes and typos in this drew me out of a story I was already struggling with. Nic has skirted feelings over Duke for years, but gives into him on

After an okay start to the Bayonet Scars series in RIDE (#1), JC Emery completely turned it around by delivering us a fantastic new addition to the world of biker books with THRASH (#2). In book #1 we got the rocky story of Alex (Mafia Princess) and Ryan (member of the Forsaken Motorcycle Club), and in book #2 we get the story of Alex's friend Nicole (Lost Girl - club whore) and Ryan's MC brother Duke.

Though I didn't feel the connection or

Since they were teenagers, Nicole had looked on Duke as more than just a friend, but life under the umbrella of a motorcycle gang is not always straightforward. Men tend to take what they want and women, well.....women either become old ladies, or Lost Girls. Nicole has responsibility for her younger brother since their dad ended up in jail and is not in the market for relationships, so she'll take the hook ups of a Lost Girl. That is,

I just finished Thrash and just absolutely loved it!! You have no idea until you read it. This is an awesome series and I tell you.......I'm hooked!!

Ride is the first in the series (Ryan and Alex) and Thrash is Nicole and Duke. I was so happy to get this one. After reading Ride I just couldn't wait to see what happens and boy let me tell you, I was impressed. This is all about the Forsaken MC club and it coincides with Ride. It could be stand alone but why in the hell would u want to do that?!!

I liked ride. I felt like the ending needed a little more, and let's be honest, Ryan is a dick.

But Thrash, Thrash I LOVED. There is something about Duke that is so just so damn hot. Ryan is still a dick, a grade A dick... But Duke. Duke is the one that makes your toes curl. He's so alpha. So hot. So.... Yum.

Everything about him and Nic is so messed up. From the start of of their relationship to the shit that goes down. She's so stubborn you want to slap her. And Jeremy is so disrespectful you w

I am not always a fan of series where each one follows a different person or couple. However, this one is an exception to that! I absolutely adored this story! It not only gave us some insight to characters we met in the first book, but we got more of what was going on in different areas during all of the drama from before.

This book doesn't shadow the first book. It more enhances the first book. We get to see some different reactions to situations that we saw before. They, in no way, mirror the

I like this a lot better than Ride.

I have to admit, I was a little confused in the beginning as to the timeline of Thrash, but quickly realized it started before Ride, and once I did, things started to make more sense. I did enjoy seeing Duke's POV of events in Ride, but didn't feel like it was just the same story from a different POV. It didn't hit me as a regurgitation of Ride, in other words.

I found Duke MUCH more likable than Ryan. He seemed a little more mature, a little more empathetic.

Thrash is told from both Duke and Nic's POVs. The first 70% of the book takes place at the same time as Ride did. But because it's told by different characters who have their own things going on, the book is different. I liked Duke's character a lot. But the man could definitely be a jerk. But the same could be said about Nic. Her fighting the attraction she has for Duke, and her struggling against him when he claims her as his old lady, will make you want to pull your hair out. But the two obvi ...more

Nicole is just lost. Her world is falling apart and my heart hurts for her I really don't know how she is keeping it together. Nicole has had a crush on Duke since they were in high school and seems he has had one on her for just as long. When they finally get together it's more than just a hook up to both of them and Duke wants to make her his. Things don't go smooth or even work out for these two. Duke may want her but he doesn't put forth the effort because really Nicole is not a women that i ...more

This was an amazing read, I read it in one sitting and could not get enough. The way in which it was written made me feel like I was there, experiencing the story.

It moved along at a great pace, had interesting characters that you want and need to know more about and a story that grabs you and refuses to let go no matter what.

J. C. Emery is a very talented author and I look forward to reading more of these amazing books.

I have both of J.C. Emery's Bayonet Scars series. I loved them both!! As far as bicker romance goes her books are on the top of my list! Has everything you want from a bicker romance romance without over doing it. Has just the right mix. Love and would recommend to all bicker romance lovers!!

So this is the second to Ride. I must say I think I liked this book better than the first. This book is about MC member Duke, and his pursuit of Nic club "Lost Girl". We see them going back and forth trying to make sense of their feelings for each other while trying to deal with all this other chaos life is throwing at them. Duke is having to deal with club business, and the after math from book one. Nic is kind of struggling with internal emotional demons, and more or less just trying to get by

OH MY GOD, guys.

I didn’t like Ride (Bayonet Scars #1) at all. Ryan was a douchebag and let’s be honest here. Alex was fine but I honestly couldn’t see the spark between Alex and Ryan.

But Thrash? Sweet Jesus.

Thrash is the story of Nicole and Duke and the second part of the Bayonet Scars series and OMG it’s so, so good.

Let’s start with Duke, shall we? Sure, he’s a jerk. All MC boys seem to be. But Duke? Duke has heart. He isn’t afraid of feeling guilt or accepting his mistake or even feeling love.

I will say that I am not usually a fan of romance.
I am more a fan of a plot driven by it's story line that will hook me in and pull me relentlessly through the book, leaving me desperately wanting more. I love being captivated and drawn into a book so much that I feel as if I'm in that world while I'm reading it.
This book had all of that for me. Romance and sex aspects aside, I thoroughly enjoyed the tortured and twisted back and forth nature between the lovers at the center of this book.

I liked this one so much more then book one, Ride. The filler and development issues seem to have ironed them selves out and the editing problems disappeared. In here we get a better balance between the arc and the romance. Our H/h talk more and we are granted their POV. It's not the emotional immature mess that Ride was. Still violent and more then saturated with douche bag behavior, the actions of our H/h and the club members actually make more sense. They are in line with what you would expec ...more
