“A Father in the Making” by Carolyne Aarsen is the third book in her 'Hearts of Hartley Creek' and what a sweet story it was. Finally Mia is found her love which I had been hoping for since I first meet her in “A Father's Promise”.

I found the story of Mia and Nate to be unbelievably stressful and so sweet at the same time. It is the stress that created the uncertainty for how things were going to work out throughout the story. There seemed to be so much stress going on, for there is an accident,

A Father In The Making is one of The Hearts Of Hartley Creek Series. A very good book. Mia runs a flower shop and lives above it. He had a six year old boy and a four year old boy. Also twin six month old girls. While Mia is at the book store with the twins picking up books she ordered, her place of business and where she lives is on fire. Her boys and the babysitter are still in the apartment. A fire fighter arrives and a friend of someone she knows also shows up. Both guys go into the burning ...more

The story contains several storylines and emotion without drama. Overall, I liked it more than most I read in the genre.

[As a side note to the author: humans do not squawk (not sure why female characters from this genre are suddenly squawking). As regards narration: across this series, the characters often "center" themselves. While the characters may complete this action, they are all too different to use the same wording to describe it. Many who ar

Recommends it for: all that like great romance stories
I have heard about "Selective Mutism" but had never read anything about it until reading A Father in the Making by Carolyne Aarsen!! A most awesome story so well written and beautifully told. It is definitely another of those "ya just can't lay it down" book. Such a beautiful and inspiring story of love for God and family. I recommend it highly to everyone that needs uplifting or just loves a great love story. I love the "Hearts of Hartley Creek" series, Carolyne, and thank you for sharing your ...more

I love this book

I have been in Nates shoes. I can understand his pain. I have also been in Mia's shoes. Both places are hard to be and it is so hard to open your heart again to more hurt. It is wonderful to know God will always be faithful and be with us to carry us though.

Nate Lyster, Denny's foster brother, and Mia Verbeek are draw to one another, but will their pasts be too much to handle? Nate rescues Mia's son Nico from a fire. Four kids is a lot for Mia to raise, but who will help her? Not her ex-husband Al, who left her pregnant with twins.

Mia is a single mother of four small children, who runs a flower shop. Nate is a single cowboy stopping by town to see his brother. Nate was not expecting to fall for Mia but her kids capture his heart. Beautifully written romance mixed with faith.

I won this as part of a goodreads first read,

Loved the story line, lost cowboy-single mother of 4, and what each of them faces while trying to recover from something in their lives.
